I want to know if Brunel have exclusive match coverage or will BBC still be covering it.
If it's just Brunel then they haven't considered the huge percentage of fans that don't live in Swindon.
WTF am i gonna listen to in the car on the way home.

I was bemused to read about the new deal struck up between Brunel FM and the football club, for sole coverage of Swindon's matches for the next 3 years. This, in my view, is an amazingly short-sighted move, as a very large percentage of the fan base live outside of the town, and therefore outside of Brunel FM's broadcast area. You cant even recieve the radio channel in Highworth! It remains to be seen whether people outside the broadcast are will be able to listen on the radio station's website, but this presumes that every one of those fans alienated by the lack of coverage owns a PC and has access to the internet. Once again I am left to wonder what else the current board can do for short-term gain, only to spite the fanbase. thats currently winging its way to the Adver as we speak. thats really, really annoyed me! |

You can't even get Brunel FM in Highworth. Exactly. At least when it's on BBC you can listen on Wiltshire Sound and still pick up the commentary in Chippenham, Melksham etc. Brunel FM only broadcast in the Swindon Urban area (or so I believe) so that's a bit shit really. |

Unfortunately the copyright for commentary is owned by the Football league which the radio station has to pay a license fee for.
The club then has the right to sell the streaming Internet license to who they see fit through STFC world. There is a license involved which Brunel will have paid for going into the clubs coffers.
Effectively that means the Beeb won’t be able to carry any of the match highlights over the Internet anymore but I don’t think that stretches to post match interviews and the like.
