Dear Supporter,

As you have probably already heard, Saturday's crunch match with Walsall has now completely sold out.

For those fans attending the game on Saturday, the club would like to make the announcement:

The players will come back out at the end of the game to salute you and do a lap of honour but ONLY if you keep off the pitch. The manager has made it very clear that he will not bring the players out if people invade the pitch. YOU are in danger of arrest and banning from the ground if you go onto the pitch and you will seriously upset your fellow fans that wish to acknowledge the players. Any intrusion onto the pitch COULD seriously affect the club’s position with The Football League.
Thank you in advance for your co-operation.

As part of the build up to Saturday, Swindon Town Football Club are now giving you the opportunity to bid for the matchworn first team shirt of your favourite player.

In association with www.specialistauctions.com STFC have made available for auction the shirt of every outfield first team player who could be involved in this weekend's game.

Please click on the following link for a list of all available shirts.

http://www.specialistauctions.com/categories.php?parent=5495

The shirts on auction have been commissioned especially and will be worn by the player's for Saturday's sell-out home clash with Walsall only. The shirts have been embroidered with the date of the match and opposition, as shown below.

If you have any questions in advance of bidding please do not hesitate to get in touch. Please see the attached file for more details.

If you wish to unsubscribe to these mailings please email me back with the word 'unsubscribe' as the subject header.

Kind Regards,

Ben Lambert

I'm tempted to reply (it was an email by the way not a letter)

Dear Ben

This really does get my back up.  Back in the 90's it was customary to invade the pitch on the last home match of the season to celebrate the season, to reward the young'uns who dream of playing at the CG in years to come, to walk on the hallowed turf.  Nearly every other league club doesn't seem to threaten their supporters with arrests or bans, they just allow the celebrations to go ahead - unpunished.  You just watch Sky's coverage of the Play offs and count the number of harmless pitch invasions that take place.

And to be honest I've had enough of clapping this bunch of plodders over the last 9 months, perhaps the players, manager and back room staff would like to go up to the exec box where they can clap the fans (on the pitch) for putting up with such a sorry state of football over the season.

And as for any pitch invasion threatening our league status, well I think non payment of a CVA will do more harm to our position in the Football League, but that's another subject.

Regards

Players clapping or pitch invasion.

Not a hard choice really.

:goodpost:  Send it Jan couldn't of put it any better to be honest.

We should be allowed on I think they will find it quite hard to stop thousands of people going on the pitch if we go up.

What a fucking sad, sanitized world those fuckers live in. I remember going on the pitch in, I think it must have been '86 when we'd clinched promotion against Chester (and on many, many other occasions come to that.)

Everyone was on the pitch and the players were still able to come out via the Directors Box and celebrate with the fans.

Not these days though. It's 'Keep off the pitch for your own safety' and other such bollocks.

FUCK OFF YOU BUNCH OF SOULESS FUCKING CUNTS - FUCK OFF!!!!!

Yes it really did happen, I was not dreaming  . That in fact would have been after the Crewe game when we were presented with the trophy. It's a shame you can't see the thousands of people teaming all over the pitch.

Disappointing.

Rob - the instructions have come from John Carr, the club's safety
officer - and he receives his instructions from the Football League. I
have forwarded your comments to him and have asked him to reply to you
in more detail.

Kind Regards,

Ben

To be fair, the club can do bugger all about it - Rovers did the same last week - it's the football league - the whole games been taken over by morons.

I honestly think we're less than 5 years away from being informed as to how we will/will not celebrate a goal.

Ben, by the way - do you think you could get your celebrated colleagues, messrs bowden and starnes to ahve the courtesy to reply to my email. Rod Bluh did, and he's got a whole town to run.
