has anybody mailed and failed to get a response yet?

I would've thought it'd be taken quite seriously and as urgently as other issues where they're so keen to be in touch...hopefully they're just busy telling Rovers the deals off...

Lets hope so

Like I have already mentioned, I text Mike Bowden about it yesterday, and whilst completely unaware of the situation he was very very concerned.

Lets hope that concern spirals into positive action

I emailed Martyn Starnes this afternoon from work. I was caught up in it (extremely lucky onnly got a couple of bruises). Tried to get the point across that an attack on innocent fans has potentially opened up a no holds barred can of worms every other week next year, if there wasn't enough tension there in the first place.
will look out for a reply tomorrow..

I know that this is STFC board we are talking about, but if the groundshare goes ahead it will infact be seen as a clear indictment of acceptability.

Surely they cannot be that thick skinned, and oblivious to the wishes of the honest ordinary customer ?

Sturrock does not have an email address but you can email Martyn Starnes on Martyn@swindontownfc.co.uk as he is still acting CEO I would imagine this type of thing should be sent to him.

I think some of you are over-reacting, it was inevitably going to kick off, groundshare idea or not, on account of pathetic policing and stewardship.

course it was....not that naive...but did you expect it to like it did at the inn on the Green, with the crowd that was there?

I think people are "over-reacting" because:

a) this wasn't the normal kick-off in that it was just "ordinary" fans targetted in a pretty savage attack
b) we face the prospect of having this imported into Swindon on a regular-ish basis next season
c) it could f**k up any chance of us getting a ground redev

Surely you can see that dmr?

Do you mean you 'don't' think people are over-reacting paul?

I don't think people are over reacting dave m russel, this was a completely unprovoked assault on a family pub mate, it wasn't pretty. This wasn't danny dyer and his cheeky chaps having a nice little ding dong, it was a full scale ambush on peaceful supporters.

Also I recieved a reply from Martyn Starnes basically saying they are awaiting police reports from Saturday, they will have to look at the situation very carefully before they consider taking matters any further forward with Bristol Rovers. Doesn't fill me with great confidence but at least it suggests they haven't done the deal yet.

If the ground share goes ahead, it will be a short sighted decision by the board.  My reasons are as follows:

- this will confirm we will not be building our new stadium, as it will be used every week

- if we do ground share with Bristol, there is probably an agreement that when Bristol's stadium is ready, we will ground share with their stadium while ours is being built (plenty more of what happened last week on the cards!)

- the council tax will go up, to cover the policing of the Bristol's visits.  While I am sure Bristol will bring their own police with them, I am sure they will not police the town centre or old town, where it will no doubt kick off each Bristol home game

- what will the Gounty Ground hotel do?  Does it bar the locals who frequent it, to allow bristol to use it?  I can't see the boys leaving the pub for Bristol, especially after last week.

I say "Bristol F'k Off"

Haven't they heard enough about this situation yet? They should have been in the press yesterday saying they would put the concerns of the fans, residents and business in Swindon first and would put the whole idea in the bin.

The fact that they are waiting suggests some sort of a deal may have been done.
