It was a mission i admit.

The walk from the ground to Montpeiler after the game took forever.

We worked a good sweat up after all that booze.

Walking is one of the great things in life......I've just got in from a walk approx 10 miles, from my house in Old Town up to Barbury, around the  ditches then back through Wroughton, via Clout's Wood.

Sweet as a nut, endorphins flowing, ready for grub and  pub later.

Ne'er cast a clout till May be out.

I walked from Knowle to the Memorial. As long as I have music to listen to along the way, I'm happy.

Wearing worn out high-tops however was a BAD idea.

Yep it wouldn't really be good if every bugger went off walking, cause one of the joys is getting away from hustle of urban living and finding a bit of peace and quiet......

Ralphy......I've not done much walking in your neck of the woods, few bits around Rollright.....Burford tends to be the natural cut off point coming north from Swindon, as once you get into Wychwood area its very heavy on denying access to walkers.

I have done quite a bit of cycling up that way though, as there's a good network of quiet lanes, particularly between Moreton, Stow and Bourton.

Wychwood is one of those places, which looks interesting on the map, but has no rights of way marked at all.....after a while of waliking and map reading, you get a feel for a place from the map....Wychwood just seems like its owners don't want walkers.

Maybe I've missed something....any local knowledge?  Its easy to get lost in woods, for the obvious reason you can't see the wood for the trees.

There's some funny goings on up that way, what with the Rollright Stones and all.

Am I right in thinking,  that Wychwood is named after the Hwicce, who were some sort of obscure sect of West Saxons?
