Fred you know you already had my forgiveness as I believe you were just following what was fact for you at the time. That half a pack of fags you gave me sweetened the deal though.

Fred you find yourself in an unenviable position of being in a position of responsibility as well as being a fan and with the 2 comes many conflicts, its quite easy to step over the line.

Personally I find it not a weakness to want to keep us all updated, I think alot of people relate to you because you are like the rest of us, very passionate for the club, love your drink and hate to see us being screwed over by the present board.

Mistakes were made yesterday and more will be made in the future but instead of dwelling on the mistakes I think it should be applauded that the statement was retracted and an immediate apology issued which is something our present board have never done.

There is a silver lining to this all, the NDA has been returned and we have moved forward steadily again so onwards and upwards from here  Beers

The galling thing is the demand for an apology from the club.

When the hell have the idiots that run this club EVER apologised for any one of their many gaffes.

Exactly. Pot...kettle...black springs to mind.

Take your pick, from the non payment of VAT, to the CVA payment (or non-payment) and the ground redevelopment, in which the plans were an advanced stage at the Fans Forum...only to be eventually told that they were in Bowden's head.

Do you know what?  They asked for an apology.  In this instance they deserved an apology.  They got an apology.  Yes - it may have been galling, given what has gone on before.  But we all know it was the right thing to do.  I would also like to highlight (lest we forget this) that the board has produced the NDA we have been asking for.  OK, they were slow - but they got there.  Credit (at last) to them for that.

It was a cock up, and I wish it hadn't happened.  But it did.  And the no nonsense, transparent and unequivocal apology - I think - speaks volumes for the way we can expect things to be run if/when the Consortium takes over.

A lot said on here and mostly all correct.  Fred knows the way that the huge majority of members feel about him (especially when he starts buying the beers!) but as said by others a lot of good has come out of this.  Firstly the rapid apology by the Trust, shows that they are a lot more transparent than certain other organisations and secondly, the Board now know (if they didn't already) that they will certainly have problems is this all goes tits-up!

I think that does the board credit, to be fair. There would be those who would be tempted to rub our noses in it (and they'd have every excuse to do so), instead they have responded in a decent spirit.
