Jans right, perhaps if you made more of an effort with people in general you would have mates that wern't to do with an internet forum.I didnt make the effort with my old chap he kicked the bucket before we got a chance to talk.
Umm sorry if that seems a bit harsh :| Don't worry about it being harsh, it's all constructive criticism. Yeah maybe I didn't make an effort to keep in touch with friends after school and college, but they've not made the effort with me either. You all probably think I'm a right saddo asking Fred because I haven't got any 'real' mates, but I do see Fred as a real mate - just because I got to know him through an internet forum doesn't make him any less real. I dont doubt you consider him a "real" mate and ive met some people off here who id consider real mates...dunno if id have them as my best man though id have thought you need a bit history with someone to be a best man. But thats neither here nor there as im not getting married anytime soon(still saving for a for an Asian buy a bride ...(is buying a wife sadder than being friends with Fred...Jurys out )) To be honest Sam there are loads of chaps like you who hook up with a bird and forget they ever had any friends. Some live happily ever after and some find themselves newly single in x amount of years time with no friends and no life.Im sure you will be the first option though.

I'll try and keep it short, but here goes. Him and my mum split up years ago and my dad moved out. He used to see me and my sister every other weekend.
After I left school I went off and did my own thing and didn't really keep in touch, but still saw him about once a month, so did my sister.
Out of me and my sister I was my dad's favourite really, he used to spoil me and not her.
With me moving out of home and everything I kind of lost touch a bit more, but not totally. Lately though my sister has become the favourite. My dad begrudingly gave me and Nic a few grand to help towards the mortgage deposit, but was quite reluctant.
Now my dad moans to my sister that I never get in touch with him and says he's tried to contact me loads of times (which is bollocks). He went off on holiday on saturday without even telling me, saturday was his birthday. I didn't have a chance to get a card for him or anything and I'll get more shit for it when he gets back.
It just pisses me off that he whinges about me not contacting him and saying he's tried to get in touch with me when he blatently hasn't. This might sound a bit naive of me, but he's my dad and he should make an effort. In the time you wrote that you could of rang your old man or got him a birthday card.

I hadnt read this sam, but fuck me your dad helped you live with your mrs and gave you money for a deposit. Do you realise how lucky you are? My father left when I was 3, fuck it thats life. I now work in a building with him as rent an office from him but he knows nothing about my life apart from work. Never talks footy, women, cars, life or anything. Your fathers your father if you want him in your life, instead of feeling upset shes his favourite maybe try and get involved with him yourself. Show him your websites youve created or whatever else you do. Sorry for teh rant but these things are two ways.
