it's easier to moan about stuff than to do anything (like be the bigger man) and do something about it..
just look at most of us on here for gawds sake!
sounds a pickle though...if you actually do manage to make contact you're only doing it "cos he's been moaning" etc.
that'll be £10 please Exactly my predicament.

i'm terrible with advice, but you'll regret it if your dad isn't at your wedding even if he's to blame.
failing everything else, get a best woman, fuck tradition!

I'll definitely get in touch with him at some point and he will be at the wedding.
I'll give him a while to calm down first.

I'll give him a while to calm down first. Families can be complicated. All things aside Sam, i think you'll dad will still be dead proud of you when you get married.

Sam, Whatever you do make sure you, your dad and your sister get it together before the wedding! Families are important and you sometimes don't realise it until it is too late. My wife fell out with her parents many years ago, so much so that when her dad fell terminally ill her mother would not let her know that he was asking for her! Luckily one of their neighbours let my wife know what was going on and she saw him three times before he died. Unfortunately, I don't think she will ever make it up with her mother, she never let my wife know her dad had died or when the funeral was. Luckily the neighbour and another member of the family kept us informed. They never sat together or spoke at the funeral or since, bite the bullet and make the first move if you have to Sam.

This might sound a bit naive of me, but he's my dad and he should make an effort.
Not trying to be a shit, but it does take two to tango, you're his son and you should make the effort too. People get a bit touchy when getting older maybe your old man just feels a bit left out. Not sticking up for him but just putting across a point of view (without knowing any of the details). Apologies if offence is taken!

Jans right, perhaps if you made more of an effort with people in general you would have mates that wern't to do with an internet forum.I didnt make the effort with my old chap he kicked the bucket before we got a chance to talk.
Umm sorry if that seems a bit harsh :|

Umm sorry if that seems a bit harsh :| Don't worry about it being harsh, it's all constructive criticism. Yeah maybe I didn't make an effort to keep in touch with friends after school and college, but they've not made the effort with me either. You all probably think I'm a right saddo asking Fred because I haven't got any 'real' mates, but I do see Fred as a real mate - just because I got to know him through an internet forum doesn't make him any less real.
