not to make excuses for smudger, but a terrible pitch, gale force winds, and the low sun (in the second half) makes a goalkeepers' job very hard.

That explains the kicking, but not the running off his line and taking on defenders, inability to catch, not meeting his punches, not calling to his defenders etc etc

My heart was in my mouth when he nearly let the ball bounce over his head in the second half.

Also when that high looping ball caught the breeze and nearly dipped in under the bar. Brezovan would've caught that with one hand.

I reckon Dave Russell didnt make it as a keeper as a kid, he always slates our keepers.

Smith is allowed one off day, he has been superb in his first season as a pro

Thought he was average at Lincoln to be fair, and his kicking is getting worse by the week.

kicking seems to be a standard problem for swindon keepers, evans kicking last season was entertaining to say the least!

Like everyone has said smithy has done wonders for us since he came in, better than anyone expected but i still feel brez will take the spot in the number 1 shirt, just as long as sturrock actualy gives him a chance.

i recon brez will bribe ol' claude to clobber smithy one in a training sesh.

he wasnt up to his usual standards today far from it.

Sadly keepers generally arent allowed off days as it can cost goals....his kicking was better in the second half....but everyone seemed to miss kicking it in the box infront of the Town End must have moles living under there or something.

The conditions made it difficult....but I did think he was going to drop that last one into his own net....

Saying that Shewsbury away he won us the 3 points...

You can't really blame him for being a bit rattled today:

I went down trying to protect myself - I took a few hits and I am astonished that they finished the game with eleven players. I could feel the punches coming in when I was on the floor.
