so there was an awful lot of ill feeling floating around and some of it towards sturrock...
so after yesterdays win and the glimpse of the new signings have our expectations shifted yet again?

yesterday's result was quality, but we didnt play amazingly throughout and if their defence had a clue between them we might not have scored 3.

i still expect us to lose easily at rochdale and atleast one other 'winnable' game (that word is shit). but i can see us squeezing into the autos still, this is the start of the run in i recon, we've got the buzz back and hopefully some players will be more up for (roberts mainly)~

anyway that said, how big a part will the loan players play? what line up would you play?

smith of course (the bloke is quality, that dive at the feet of mendes was the stuff that heros are made, i find it hard to fault him)

the defence is the only bit that's tricky.
we won yesterday so why change it? but i'm so much more comfortable with vincent at left back rather than CB. but that means bringing in the uninspiring westwood, who could get better, or newboy partridge.

smith partridge ifil vincent- doesnt look half bad.

the only issue with the midfeild is should peacock hold or get forward, asking him to do both could spread him a bit thin. for that reason i'd persist with pook and then evans as a holder so peacock can push on. zaaboub on his day is the (with neceassry emphasis) best player in the league. wouldnt mind seeing a bit more of james on the right, he's fast as fuck.

roberts peacock pook/evans zaaboub

grimes look a talent from just 3 minutes. corr not too bad but again he'll probably come unstuck against better defenders because he just seems so clumsy, hasn't got the cleverness of a henderson say. david dukawicz is good of course.
so its 2 from those 3.

in conclusion, what i'm trying to say is shakes and brown will never play again  Beers

Good points Stroood, dunno who David Dukawicz is, I gues we've signed Lukas' brother?  Wink

Agree wih Zaboub, when he is good he has the most quality in our side - speed strenghth, agression and an eye for goal, it's just when he can be bothered, and as long as he can stop messing about in our defensive third.

Although nico looks good, vincent impresses me more than previously - still unsure of his distribution - it seems Partidge is billed as a talker/leader - presumably in the Williams mould to stop ifil falling asleep, so seems liekly to fill in at CB.  I believe yesterday liek Walsall was one of the few times when teh side have played the'sturrock way' - he's getting his own players in and making the existing ones understand what he wants.

It's so tight at the top, too tight to call. And Hartlepool aside everyone else has the same erratic form we do.

One minute I think there is a slight danger of slipping out of even the playoffs and the next we can go joint second with a win.

The one concern I have is our last two games. Rovers and Walsall. Tough last 2 games if the nerves set in. It would be nice to think us and Walsall would only need a draw to go up in the automatics come the last game of the season.

I was thinking that mate.

But after Shrewsbury, we've got 5 games in row against teams in the bottom half.

I know we have had a tendancy to fuck up against the shite sides, but if we don't go up with a run in like that, we deserve to stay in league 2!

The only thing that annoyed me about yesterdays game was the amount of times Smith should have come out for the ball, thats the only side of his game that is lacking. (Must admit diving at the feet of Nat Brown was ace though)

Agree here - very good take at the guy's feet. Was crapping myself when he messed up on the edge of the box. At first I thought he was unlucky but onsecond viewing he was slow to come out. A bit of work to be done but a good keeper nonetheless

Personally our defence worries me the least. At first I thought Vincent was a bit dodgy in there but since the Barnet game he's been very good and organised superbly. It's the midfield that concerns me. We have 5 players who can play there - Pook, Timlin, Peacock, Evans and Weston - and none of them can decide whether they're holding or attacking midfielders. Our wingers are also a bit hit and miss - are they going to provide chances for the strikers every game?

Hmm.

Did you even watch the game yesterday?

Our defence was the worst part of our game and our midfield was the best.

Yesterday was the best we have played since Sturrock took over, acccording to the man himself. The midfield excelled. However the trend has been defence: alright, lets in the odd goal.

Midfield: shit, creates the odd goal.

I think the only change from Sunday could be Nicholas out, Vincent moved to left back then either Westwood/Partridge or Gnapka (spelling ?) playing alongside Ifil.Ooh just rembered that Timlin is back as well so he could replace Pook.
But I guess PS will make up his mind after the stiffs game tomorrow.

Honestly, Pook played a lot better at Grimsby than Timlin, and he played well at Lincoln too IMO. Id keep him in.
