I live in Bristol and I am getting fed up of it. If they want an apology fine, but don't come asking for one from me or any of the other people whos ancestors had nothing to do with the slave trade, go to the people whos family took part and benefited from it.
What boils my blood is them asking for compensation. FFS most the the black people in Bristol, London etc came over here in the 1970s when their was a recruitment drive and more likley than not are not releated to any deceased slaves.

To be fair, the people you're talking about there came mostly from the west indies, so would have been decended from slaves.

i honestly think the ancestors of the black slaves living in britian live better lives today because of slavery than what they would have if their forfathers hadn't been brought here years ago. think about it, they'd more than likely be living in poverty, possibly starving and living in mud huts .no medicine ect, ect.
yes slavery was bad but it aint anybody around todays fault is it? they should be thankful of the lives they now are able to live and leave history in the past

Slavery has existed throughout the ages and all races are guilty of it(arabs and blacks were hugely involved in the sale of people to merchants for example and white people in workhouses were slaves too). The biggest differences as far as the black slave trade goes is the displacement to other continents, and the sheer scale of it. It's a pity Ironside doesn't come on anymore, he could treat us to ten pages of essays that don't even say anything :boring:

Fair point Amir - I was always taught that if you looked at someone who was of a different race or colour and thought of them as inferior then that was totally wrong. Simple message really - mind you this doesn't apply to the french

Arriba's right, the descendants of African slaves are so much better off as a result of 20 MILLION! of their ancestors being killed in 350 years of slavery. They should be grateful! Compensation?! Fuck that they should be paying us, what with their lives being so enriched as a result of slavery killing 20 MILLION! of their ancestors.
We should only acknowledge all the good stuff from our history like eeerr...winning the World cup. Forget all that bad shit, pretend it never happened.

You wanker Millom, my great great grandad was an afro carribean slave, and his wife was a sex slave in Sheffield. People like you who want to brush history beneath the rug make me sick.
It's about time this country paid for treating us blacks so badly over the years.
Also I should be due a huge compensation cheque for injuries received during the battle of Falkirk, Culloden, Flodden Field..... Fuck off you sheep stealer!! Oh..and eddy beat the scots more often than he lost....you should not take mel gibson so seriously.

Cool! Does that mean when the last veterans of World war 1 and 2 have died we can forget about them? Maybe then when I turn on the telly on remembrance Sunday to watch footy highlights I won't be confronted with sombre looking politicians standing around a memorial statue. I don't really give a fuck if it was 100 0r a 1000 years ago, suffering on that scale shouldn't be forgotten. I mean I still get upset that the dinosaurs are extinct. Stupid fucking asteroids!
