I bought loads of computer parts so I can be a geek and build my own I thought about doing that, but I have no idea what is good any more. I found out the other day that even new hard drives don't work on good old ide chains. All this crazy dual shit. To be fair I can't see theirs that much to learn, theirs only a few bits you need to get right and then the rest is pretty modular. It always surprises me that people are so scared to fuck about with their computers. Even proper technophobes could learn it pretty quick and in a way it's much simpler than trying to delve into the workings of windows when something goes wrong. But yeah. what did you buy and what are you doing?

Basically bought a complete new kit as I'm using a shitty laptop at the moment and want a better desktop. Spent a fair bit (£1200) but it's a buy now pay later job, so I'll pay it off over 2 or 3 months.
Got a 19" TFT widescreen monitor, tv card, wireless adapter and all that shit. An EVGA nforce 680i motherboard A dual core Intel 6400 processor 2gb of RAM 2 x 500gb Seagate HD (on clearance) 2 x XFX 7600GT 256mb graphics cards (going to link up via sli) Antec nine hundred case (basically has shit loads of fans thrown in)
Should fly once it's set up. Just hope the graphics cards fit in the case ok

Not really Ben. I've been to work and spent most of the day browsing the Internet. I did go out to dinner and eat some very nice Maryland Crab Cakes.
I've got some Californian Shiraz on the go. Unfortunately, the wife has taken to using lots of red wine in her cooking, the good news though is that I always get to look for good bottles to feed that sad addiction...and then finish them off. Red wine in cooking is ace, although I always feel sad when there alcohol get's burnt off.

So long as you cook it out slowly you don't burn as much of the alcohol off and the taste infuses into the food (especially steak). Yummo!

Yep, in slow cooking stuff it's ace. I always picture the cooking process of the chorizo in my dad's place though. Fry off the chorizo and then poor over the red wine. you see it catch on fire and all the beautiful alcohol break down into flames. Nice and tasty though (shameless plug) and fire is always good fun. They do Morcilla (spanish black pudding) in the same way.
One of the chefs I work with, Nicole, managed to set stuff on fire on 2 consecutive Saturdays back in November. Didn't bother me because I got to play fire fighter. First was a pair of oven gloves which were left on top of one of the big pan things and slipped onto the gas rings. Second was a loaf of bread that fell into the back of the oven. I am slightly disappointed at myself for not utilising the fire extinguisher. That would have been fun.
