... on a new car, or at least I will have sooner rather than later

Don't want something that's going to rape me on my insurance and preferably a hatch

Suggestions please as I know as much about cars as Fatbury does about shagging

You can have my 1998(R) Renault Megane Coupe 1.6 8v for £1600.

Goes like shit off a shovel for a little car.

VW Golf. they're good.

i personally would go for a phase 2 honda CRX 16v, pre-93 model... go like shit off a shovel, look the dogs, bulletproof reliability and they're jap, so they're cool.

but as you're a big jess who parks cars upside-down in fields, go for a golf Cheesy  Wink

For £2500 on a small hatch realistically you're looking at a 98-99, I would think, depends what you mean by raped on insurance, and how old you are, keeping it at 1.4 or below will keep it cheap, and for realiability something German or Japanese makes sense.  If you want fast and fun buy a recent classic - MKI or II golf - my mate at 21 had an MGB worth £1800, 1.8 pretty good knick and fast and insurance would be less than £500 for off road parking using a firm like Lancaster.
