Accrington hit with League charge
Accrington Stanley have confirmed they have been charged by the Football League for fielding ineligible players.
Preston youth team striker, Chris McGrail played twice for Stanley when on work experience at the club and registered as a scholar with North End.

McGrail, 17, appeared as a substitute in Accrington's 3-2 win over Mansfield on 16 January and in Stanley's 1-1 draw with Wycombe on 20 January.

The other game and player are unknown at this stage.

The League Two club could now be facing the possibility of being deducted points.

Already this season AFC Wimbledon have been deducted 18 points for playing an ineligible player and Bury were kicked out of the FA Cup for the same reason.

A statement on Accrington's official website read: "Issues surrounding the registration of players is a complex matter.

"The club considers the charges to be technical issues and will submit a detailed defence to the disciplinary commission hearing early next month.

"Accrington Stanley Football Club is taking expert advice in this matter and can assure supporters that they will take every available option open to them to ensure that League status is maintained.

"The club will make no further comment at the present time."

I wonder what impact this will have on their team tomorrow? A galvanizing one or a real blow to their morale?

I would think it may be a bit of a blow but you never know....the scare that they may lose points because of it may make them play out of their skins....

Either way they have conceded more goals this season than all but one other team in this league (boston).....so if we are finally gonna thrash someone then this is the game to do it in......I have high hopes for Sturrocks rallying call although as I said in another thread, whenever I predict we will win, we lose, so i'm saying 2-1 loss (but secretly holding out for giving them a good thrashing!)

Accrington will probably get hammered because they cant afford top lawyers (the usual FA way). The FA doesnt really like non league set ups in the football league, so I should think they will be looking to boot them out of the league.

They will know they are not assured survival now.
