Some odd comments in his latest ramblings
"A couple of our targets might be available after Sat's game"
Does that mean that play for Acrington Stanley and that us why the manager won't release them, what is so special about Sat, or are we chasing player is the FA Cup ??
"I must stress that anyone that comes in must fit into a longer term plan, not just until the end of the season"
Sorry, but I thought we needed players who can play now surely if it means getting someone that is still under contract that is good and needs experience like a certain person from Fulham then it is worth getting him, if it means taking someone short term and it helps with promotion then so be it.
Just a few odd comments from him I think.
Thoughts ?

They dont want to pay the win/promotion bonuses- full stop!!!
How the hell do they know we pay higher bonus levels t han all of league 1 and most of the championship- have they rung around all the clubs to find out?

Yes i agree as well. Loans are only till the end of the season. Surely if we are chasing promotion thats all we can go for in terms of extra bodies.

I don't care how in bed he is with the board I really don't think Sturrock wants anything other than automatic promotion this season. At least that what my sauces(sic) tell me.

This inability to get players into the club, even on a loan deal is getting to be a bit of a joke now to be honest. I don't know where the problem lies but it has never been such an issue in the past :?

King never had any problems getting players in - and to be fair to the guy he managed to get some gem's in - Has Sturrock not got the contacts to be able to phone a manager and ask him who he has that he would be able to loan..blimey even a few of the teams above us have got loans in the last few weeks ??
We get a defender when we really need a striker.....

No we get a defender when we really need a defender and a striker - we have strikers - only not great ones, we have no centre backs at all, especially now Ifil is out, a sage move by Sturrock.

My thoughts are Sturrock is operating more of a quality control system than King used to.
Sure king got some gems in on loan, but for every good loanee he managed to get I can think 1 medicore loanee and one crap loanee as well
I imagine that anyone coming in has to have "balls" as well. we can do without adding to the apparant defeatest mentality that runs through our current squad.
And PtoP, what do you mean we didnt need a defender? are you sure?

Err, we need a defender more than a striker, we haven't got any cover at the back FFS.
I guess the fact we're in league Two doesn't help when trying to get players in and kingy undoubtedly had a bigger budget.
Even so it is a bit worrying that other teams around us are getting quality, just goes to show we really can't compete with Hartlepool's, Dongs and Walsall's which is very depressing. The sooner we get rid of Newbury the better.

He is in with the board Really? OMG, what with him being an employee of theirs? Who'd a thought it. Have you gone to the papers about this Bart? I've no doubt they'd love to hear all about this huge scandal. I can see the headlines now... "Shock within football world as "fan" uncovers shocking truth that football manager works with club's board" "Amazing truth of football manager who works for the board that pay his wages" I'd keep it under your hat Bart, I'm not sure the football world would cope with information of this calibre. They dont want to pay the win/promotion bonuses- full stop!!! Hence the board telling sturrock not to get promotion? Or am i one step ahead of you oracle? |
