They won't play again even if that means, dare I say this, that it affects our promotion. For the simple reason that at the end of the day we've got to tilt this club in the right direction with a committed squad of players who want to do the right things for Swindon Town.

"If I can't get that with this lot, my remit as far as promotion is concerned will take a bit longer.

From the adver site. He wants to get players playing for STFC. If this means affecting promotion then so be it? A right move? I'm undecided/split. I want promotion but on the other hand I want players who want to play for stfc. I'm not sure on the whole do or die attitude.

right move for me. Sturrock is here for the long term and i think we can rebuild in the summer (hopefully under the consortium!) and build a squad capable of winning this league by a street. i think if Sturrock starts afresh next season we are going places.

That's bollocks. If there really are players who could make a difference to us getting promotion, Sturrock should play them regardless of what he thinks of them, then get rid in the summer when we've been promoted.

Having said that, I don't think there are any players whose omission from the team would adversely affect our promotion chances. Shrug

We've got a squad who 'SHOULD' (when i say should i mean along the same lines as we should not have been relegated, should have beaten brighton etc etc.) win this league, unfortunately we dont have a team who looks as though we can do it. They dont seem to care either.

Best case scenario = promotion this season, keep who really want to play for the club (Brezovan, P Smith, J Smith, Peacock, Evo and some others) then flush the rest out. Leg Luggy build hid own squad then go on a push for the championship! Cool Of course led by the consortium!  Soapy Tit Wank

Trouble is it's already fairly clear who's for the chop come the summer, which I'd guess isn't much help when it comes to motivting them to get their fingers out

I would be surprised if Luggy cut his nose of to spite his face to steal a phrase.

I don't think there any many players that will not want to be playing 1st team football so I expect them all to give it a good go as luggy requires, I think there are possibly 2 players that may not get a game again and that is Roberts & Shakes as you get the feeling that Luggy has had enough of their 30 min performances...although saying that you get the feeling that Roberts has a few gears to step up and if he does that then he can be a force...but the question remains...will he ?

True, but they still have to impress the watching scouts otherwise nobody will want them.

My belief is that if we dont get promotion THIS season - the fans simply wont keep coming as they have done this year - Season ticket sales are CERTAIN to drop - I cant remember the exact number that there were this year but there was a BIG increase .. with the drop in season ticket money and gate receipts in general there will be (if its possible!) even LESS money in order to get the players needed to get us up.

THAT is why this season is so important and Im not certain that Sturrock understands this at present or if he does has reason of his own to ignore it.

I know what I think but I dont want to keep going on about that ... so I wont!

I think it really depends on the players if there up for it,and have they got it in them to get us promoted .To be honest the way there playing at the moment we dont deserve to get promoted. Sad

the irony being, of course, that the players in the squad who are not performing and who we desperately need to start playing well, quite simply are not good enough for league 1.

so if we go up, their contract won't be renewed. if we stay down, chances are it will.

they all seemed to want to play for STFC when Wise was boss?

fatbury makes a good point (for the first time in a long time!) due to Wise ticket sales were up loads. They will go down next season if we're still in the basement.

Alot of people have stuck with it, but I cant see many wanting to come back next season. Lets be honest the football is dire.....the saving grace so far this season, is no matter how dire we win....
