I wonder how many youths will be offered contracts at the end of the season? In the past its been only a couple if that a season, just wondered out of the current crop n with a new manager how many will get those pro contracts?
I reckon 3 tops?

despite the cup run I dont know that much about them.
they've all played really well in the cup but I'm not sure how many are in their final year.
I think Chris Allen and Jon Stewart are in their final years as a YTS, Scott Doe too possibly? Whilst all the 2 outfield players look decent I wouldnt say they are ready for League One football next season...and Sturrock has said he doesnt want reserve players so unless he thinks they can be thrown into the first team he wont keep them. If he thought Doe could play at a pro level he would have included him in the squad recently what with our defensive mini crisis.
Reckon Stewart will be gone at the end of the season.

also, dont think last years lot (Caton, Holgate & Wells) will be kept on and will follow Stroud and Henry to local non-league football.

I agree about caton holgate wells and stewart i think they'll go. I think from the little ive seen of them that possibly 2/3 on the pitch vs Newcastle are worhty of pro contracts but as you say can they handle the step up?

looking on the site I reckon most have a few years left as yts players
Stewart, Doe, Allen, Jutkiewicz and Hopper are 17. So I think they are in thier last year
Westall, Kennedy, Evans, Morris and Hyde are all 16, so probably have another year left as a yts
Hammond is only 15, depending on the month of birth could have 1 or even 2 years left.
Having said that, dont we usually sign our players on three 3 yhts contracts. Im sure thats what Caton, Holgate, Stroud etc were on. No idea when most of the above joined us....but very few of those names were in that squad that beat Burnley in that cup final 2 years back.
In conclusion, I dont actually know.....

Also rigley has already been offered a contract hasnt he? The lad that broke his leg? Lukas already has a contract so he's another one from that group. I reckon Allen could be in with a shout after PS comments about him etc

Lukas was given 3 years in the summer, so he's a pro now.
Its been said that Rigley will be offered a contract despite the leg break, however with him being 17 I think it will be a years extension to his yts deal.
Like Caton last season. He should have finished his yts contract last season but because he missed the season through injury Iffy got it extended by a further season....which....he's been mostly injured for as well.

Back to the Holgate question, looking at BBC reports he appears not to have featured for them yet..looking on the Macc offical site on the squad section, it says he's on loan from Barnsley?! So either he's been sold to them and we've not been informed OR their official site is as shit as ours
