(I haven't read through the thread apologies if it's been mentioned)
So is Ricky Shakes the player who will never play for the club again (according to Sturrock after Barnet)?
One got a reprieve I know that. injured bruised foot apperently

Timlin sat deeper that Pook and Zaaboub....who were sat deeper than Roberts and Jutkiewicz
so, 4-1-2-2-1 then :S
Anyway I thought Sturrock played well, good hold up play. Good use of the ball....some good touches, some half decent crosses. Still doesnt look like the natural finisher we miss. However their keeper made a good save from him first half

I think the important thing today was 3 points no matter what. And we got it. According to the stats, Chester had one shot, and it was off-target - indicating some sort of defensive competance from our boys. Ok it sounds as though we should have buried a few more chances but when confidence is low blah blah blah We need to move on quickly and get some sort of run going now, starting with putting atleast a couple past Stockport, which may not be easy but I think would do us the world of good in terms of morale and ambition

Good game.
If Sturrock had scored his two good chances (Both forcing very good saves from the keeper) We'd all be a little more upbeat I think.
Deffo deserves to keep his place next week (As does Lukas).
Roberts (As usual) was a bit hot and cold, but he'd did put in some great crosses.
Timlin looked more like his old self and Pook was reliable.
Zaboub was good, really good in patches.
Nicholas and J.Smith were both good.
Vincent was very steady.
Ifil was IMMENSE!
P.Smith did what he had to do well (Which wasn't much).

Thoght roberst did ok today, but was a little frustrating at tmes. What did piss me off though, was the midget's behind me insitence to slag roberts off every-time anything bad happened.I can understand it at times, but it was only roberts who this man shouted at, even though others were making similar if worse mistakes. What Really pissed me off though, was smith misplaced a pass, straight to one of their players. And suprise, suprise, it was a case of "fuckin hell roberts u lazy useless cunt". I got so annoyed i got in a huff and moved.
For lucas - He has talent, his shot in the second half proved that. I dont think he's cut out to be a left winger.
We deserved to win, they didn't have any real chance, typical game for us this season.

Whats that all about? Cheering Roberts being taken off and having a go at Brown. I know Robbo can be the most frustrating player at times and his mannerisms make it look like he is not trying at times but he has the pace and skills to damage most defences in this level and above. Far more effective today as a winger and deserved to be subbed when he starts trying to do fancy turns when we are holding on. As for Brown he has acted like a right tw@t beginning of season and Tuesday. At the end of the day they are both valuable members of the dwindling squad and we all want to see success this season. Why turn against our own? I cannot understand it? Let the manager make his mind up on these guys. We need to get behind them not slag em off!!

I thought that Town played alright, but not great. A win is what we needed and that's all that really matters at the end of the day.
Pook was wank, chasing shadows most of the game and his first touch in crucial positions was fucking awful.
Roberts was great, and then terrible, then great, then terrible. Really annoying, but worth it for when he's good.
Sturrock did very well I thought. Harried and hassled the defenders and held the ball up very well. He;s not the biggest but he's got a lot of fight in him and won't give up easy. Well played.
Lukas looked absolutely knackered by the end. I really think he's wasted out wide though. He did some good things and should keep his place I think.
Man of the match for me was Jerel Ifil. I was away for the best part of 2 years and he looks a completely different player now. His distribution is poor, but then he shouldn;t have to whack it every time, if one of the fucking central midfielders just came back and took it off him then his job is done.
We were some much better than them all over the pitch, but just couldn't convert that into proper golden chances. Got into dangerous areas though, and played some good stuff down both wings. A decent home performance, but a win is a win. Just need 10 more.

I thought Roberts started well but was totally anonymous from midway through the first half until he was substituted, gave the ball away, was lazy, selfish and greedy. If only he could play consistently for 90 minutes.
Otherwise, everyone did pretty well - Ifil was a rock and I thought Pook and Timlin had very good games. Chester played some very quick and short passing football and considering the conditions we dealt with them with ease.
The system was fluid but disjointed as well, time and a consistent starting 11 will help this.
Deserved to win by two or three goals.
Very happy.

his lil spinny-turn-type thing with the football by the arkells tho, IMMENSE! if only SoccerAM knew how shit he was week in, week out, that'd replace the Kanchelskis showboat as the best one ever.
roberts was toss the entire 2nd half.
sturrock worked his bollocks off but looked a lil ring rusty still
lukas is the way forward
ifil was MOTM this week, and probably next week too, purely on his performance today. immense.

Pook was really good in the first half but didn't get involved for the entire second half. I know I hate him and also hate him because fatters loves him, but he was out best player in the first half imo

Plenty of people seemed to go off at Roberts for that. Just goes to show how blinkered people can be when they decide they don't like someone. The way the Arkells reacted when the no.9 went up the the board, I thought something had happened that I wasn't looking at. He's frustrating as hell, and he can be very poor but he doesn't deserve that.

I think 1-0 from a penalty sums it up. It was poor all round.
I think we played better against Darlington a week ago, which worries me. I didnt think we created anywhere near enough chances and there was no real pattern to our play.
Reception Brown got was just sheep following the herd. Dont think anyone behind that goal at Barnet will forgive him. Besides he plays better when we are on his back, the only thing I can remmember all season was that free kick after he came back.
