"At the time of writing we are in negotiations with a few clubs to bring a couple of players in. Hopefully by the time you read these notes we will have added at least one if not two new faces to the squad in time for today's game."

This is obviously meant for Saturdays programme ... or is it? I'll stick my neck out and get it wrong .. but is this released NOW to make us think Sturrock is trying hard to get some players in?

And come Saturday will we hear .. well we couldnt get the players we wanted??

My gut feeling is that we might get one player in of a low quality ... time will tell

Yes, because for an experienced manager, with a threadbare squad, no real goalscorer and lack of defenders, looking for players would be the last thing on his mind wouldnt it??? :-))(

Technichly (sp), he hasn't got rid of half the squad.  I think your being too cynical. The only real mistake he made was monkhouse, the rest wern't up to the job. He might of been given false hopes by the board, but i doubt the board put a gun to his head, and ordered him to get rid of those player

That's it, I'm boycotting his post match interviews.

Thanks for telling me Fatbury. With your priceless information, I feel wiser about the strange business that is Swindon Town F.C.

I thought that but after last night I kinda see why.

Monkhouse has played 80something games in the last 5 years, and Sturrock feels (whether we agree or not) that Brown and Zaaboub offer us more. Basically, we have 2 left wingers already, and don't need a third, especially not one who is as injury prone as Monkhouse is. A team comes along and wants to pay money for a player who is on quite a large wage packet here as it is and who isn't in Sturrocks plans.

Makes sense really, whether I agree with it or not.

This PR conspiracy is too much for me, not sure I get my head around it. So if we haven't got a player by Saturday then Sturrock paid Aliens to kidnap JFK to get him to fly planes into the World Trade Centre?

Crazy days.

What does it matter how many games he's missed for Hartlepool? It doesn't disprove what I or Sturrock said at all.

What's the point of the thread fatbury? Are you trying to suggest Sturrock ISN'T trying to get players in? If so that fucking sums you up mate, full of shit.

not necessarily no players ... but maybe poor quality cheap ones to make up the numbers ... dont get me wrong I hope he proves me wrong and comes up with a couple of quality signings .. but loan players dont usually do that well - and all I do is give my opinions .. and If im wrong ill admit it .. im just sounding off and offering an opinion .. not asking anyone to agree ... thats what forums are all about .. expressing opinions
