I don't think it is - especially when considering the Aaron Brown isn't the sort of player to react positively to such events (we'd have probably guessed that pre-Barnet)

People pay to go to the games - It should be up to them whether they boo or not.

I can never understand why fans berating players is BAD but the manager berating players is GOOD.

We can't show our dissatisfaction but the manager can shout and scream at them? If the manager's comments don't have a negative effect I don't see how fans' would either.

People do tend to boo players/the team too easily, it should only ever be done in extreme circumstances - i.e. horrendous home/away loss, despicable behaviour by a player, extremely bad performance etc.

Oh and I'm not voting because there's no middle ground for me to build a fence on.

To be fair Sonic, the manager is shouting instructions and being constructive.

Booing a player, or shouting insults during the game towards them is hardly the same thing.

I've booed at half and full time before, but when they're playing I just don't think it does anything positive and could adversely affect what is already a poor performance.

I was talking about the classic half-time team talk - "the hairdryer treatment". I don't see how that's vastly different to out-and-out booing a player.

Yet fans seem to be happy for the manager to give a player the hairdryer treatment but not for fans to do similar.

It depends entirely on the personality of a player though, a lot of players don't react as well as others who thrive on being disliked and boo'ed - Diouf is probably the best example. Unfortunately it's impossible for fans to know a player's personality inside out, so you don't really know how they'll react.

I'd like to believe that in general footballers would respond to the sort of criticism Brown received in a positive way but I don't think they have the intelligence to do that.

I can honestly say I've never booed a player in the red shirt, nor would I, scream and shout a bit in frustration at times.....but as Blinkers says if its crap I just slope off mute at the end rather than applauding.

   In a similar vein I've always thought it better for your prospects to show a bit of appreciation to visiting old players....less likely to stir them up.

 Monkhouse suggested he was a bit put out to be getting stick....(understanably seeing as he was shipped out and not been on a losing side for us).....would singing his name have made him less likely to score?

I still don't see why that makes a difference if it's at half-time. Obviously booing them at 90 minutes won't have a derogatory affect on their performance but what's the difference between booing at half-time at any other point during the game?

Booing a player during the game may get to them and affect them.

If you boo at half time to show your displeasure, they're not actually in play and therefore it can't affect their performance.
