How can Sturrock saying he is looking at getting Best on loan be a smokescreen?

If he manages it, great! If he doesn't, he doesn't.

I get the feeling that he's in a no win situation with you: if he goes for quality players you'll say he's wasting his time; if he goes for no one, you'll moan at our lack of squad depth and if he goes for a lower league player, you'll say they're not as good as what we've got.

They may have first refusal but the final say must be with the player and Leon did say he had a good working relationship with Luggy in the past at Saints and Weds so he may have enough respect for him to join us...I am very hopefull as I have seen him a few times and he is quality.

I think he's concerned that if another stiker joins we wouldn't get Matt Tubbs.

I very much doubt Best will drop this low, or that Southampton will let him drop this low when there will be a host of League One clubs interested
