What a load of fucking bollox.
I'm wanting to buy myself a car for the first time in 4 years and i thought (foolishly) i had 6 years no claims but apparently if i don't have a policy for 2 years they get removed and i go back to zero.
how the fuck can they do this. so all those years of driving being careful etc etc counts for fuck all.
i've no claims convictions or speeding tickets (how i don't know) yet i'm classed as having zero no claims.
does anyone know a way round this as i'm fucked if i want a decent car unless i use my mums insurance but thats just shit

Well ain't you out of practice driving? Surely you won't be as good a driver as you were 4 years ago?

i've been a named driver on my wifes car for 4 years cos i catch the train to work so only drive in the evening and weekends so never needed a car of my own.

What are you looking at buying mate? You've obviously had your license a few years, are over 25, can you keep it off the road?
At 23 with no no cliams I could get an Alfa 147 fully comp for less then a grand!

it's only a renault clio Sport.
i've been driving 10 years.
i've just had a quote of £950 fully comp with £150 excess.
all they took was the fact i'd been a named driver on my wifes car.
not bad at all really considering

I manage to get 5 yrs no claims on my insurance using my 5 years as a named driver on my parents cars, I even sent the paperwork, and after 4months I haven't been queried yet. Saved a few quid, £520 fully comp on my 3yr old Ibiza.
