i think it's a london thing: spurs are bidding £10million for gareth bale, chelsea paid £21million for subutteo's shaun wright philips, and arsenal actually paid money for alexander hleb.

That's a big chunk of cash. But to be fair he's cut it at the top. £10m for a untried 17yr old left back? do us a favour. Man Utd had the right idea trying to structure the payments based on career sucess for Bale. Not forgetting the cheap at half the price Ashley Young deal :-))( .

watch Hleb closely, he's actually very good.
transfer window is full of panic buys by clubs who are struggling - we've adopted just the right policy - if we can get who we want in, great. if we can't, there's no point in disrupting the squad, who are performing well.

I personally think the transfer window is a joke. I'm surprised someone hasn't had it challenged in court saying that it's against 'restraint of trade', as if someone wants to move countries outside the window, they cannot due to the transfer window.
What was wrong with the old one, which was only closed for the last month of the season ?

I've only seen Hleb now and then but he looks a damn fine player to me.
Bent isn't worth £1.8m.

Hleb is a very good player. English Players are overpriced. That is why Managers shop abroad for players and then managers moan. In my opinion i would of only paid for Ashley Young about £4m. Darren Bent is only worth £5m. I watched Highlights of the spurs game last week where he came on and changed the game before he got injured.
