Michel Platini is the new President of UEFA.

He has said that he plans that the maximum number of teams from one country in the Champions League should be reduced to three instead of four.

I'm sure the 'big four' will love that !!!

no they won't. Platini wants more teams from the small nations to get more Champions league places. He also wants to expand the Euro championship from 16 teams to 24 teams.

This platini chap has the right idea, less big teams in the European cup will makethe Uefa more competitive too.  They should stop the group stage in that too.  "4 teams in the euros makes a lot of sense, giving every team an extra group match I guess.

Quite right too, why the fuck a team finishing 4th in the prem has a chance of getting in the champs league is beyond me.

Increasing the size of the Euro's will be good too. It's nice to give the smaller nations more exposure. Plus, Scotland might qualify and then we can laugh at them losing to someone like Latvia.

Couldn't care less about the champs league, but the man is mad. He wants 4 linesmen per game. Like to see how that translates to grass roots level.

Blatter v Platini, who will come up with the gayest ideas?

Lennart Johansson has been in charge since 1990 so it'll be good to see a fresh approach.

But as highlighted in above posts... Platini + Blatter = Potential Madness.

That's nearer the truth.  The zany stuff hopefully will never happen, but agree on a fresh approach, perhaps someone will start to remember the important thins in the game and not just the money.

it was 27 votes to 23 votes according to SSN. Fresh approach was needed and they need to do something about goal technology and the offside rule. Or does fifa sort those two out.

The champions league should be for teams who finish champions in their domestic league- as it says in the title!! It shouldn't involve the top 4 teams of a division. Otherwise they should rename it to 4th place upwards league.

I think there's a separate football rules body with 8 members on it. 1 from English FA, 1 from Scottish FA, 1 From Welsh FA, 1 From N.Irish FA and 4 from Fifa.

Used to be something like that anyway.

That'sthe one thing that bafled me European cup is a good name, no confusion, then they stop it being just champions and call it the champions league?  Lunacy!  Ideally it should be just the champions but to fulfill the TV/money needs the top two would be more realistic.

Blatter's ideas will never get anywhere, I doubt the bloke actually has any influence on the game whatsoever.

Platini was a fantastic footballer so I hope he has a better grasp of the game than Johannson.

The CL should be made up of the league champions of each league under UEFA jurisdiction, the rest should be dumped in the UEFA cup.

I'm surprised someone hasn't taken UEFA to court, as surely they're false advertising because how can you call it the Champions League when you don't have to be Champions to enter it !!!
