Fuck me, he's been here 18 months and has 18 months left to run on his contract.
That means he was signed in the summer of 2005.
Who signed him? The manager.
Who was our manager? Andy King, not Dennis Wise!
Simple, innit? Yeah innit. People should lay off the cunt for looking after his family, making assumptions over his wage over the past 10 years and then slating his sideways movement of the football. It's not like he hooved it and lost it to X, Y, Z in the oppo's defence To be fair it's safe to make a decent assumption of his wage at STFC but not for the past. I don't rate him and was only impressed with him at Port Vale last season. That's one game. I sincerely hope that if he's going to sit out his contract he does something worthwhile with his time, perhaps he could do his coaching badges and help out with the youth teams instead of just picking up his pay packet every week/month. Fair enough, but many dont give him a chance. He's been out injured since last year, and i'm sure his agent has been trying to find him a new club, yet his injury has countered his attempts to move clubs. I'm sure come pre-season in the summer, that he'll be elsewhere. I've seen worst players stay at the club earning a more than respectable wage and not get slated.

The argument that his injuries should be sufficient reason for him retiring from the professional game could be used to counter that. If he's not fit enough to play for us or another club, why are we paying him?
As for other players, the only ones I can think of are Cobian and Ruddock in recent history and both were slated.

The bloke must have earned over a million quid in his career the only hardship his family would experience is maybe his mrs wouldnt get the new X5 shes been hankering after.
Assuming he was on £1k a week and the club offered to pay half his contract, thats a £39k lump sum. should be enough to keep him out of the chicken factory for a week or two So the fact he might be on £1k a week here. drop that down from what he was earning at wigan must mean he has earnt £1 million in his career...fuck off. Yes, quite easily. That's only £2k a week average for ten years. He's been a pro for over ten years and has played at a high level for most of that time with Bradford in the Prem and also Crewe and Wigan in the Champioship. Firstly, who knows what he on at present? Secondly who knows what hes earned previously to joining our club and consequently what he might have spent it on? who really gives a toss, just because he might have earned £1 million does mean he has it now to spend. who gives a flying fuck? he's looking at his family, its not like we look after his accounts to comment. Thirdly, its all about his contract, its the pgymy cunts fault not his. Firstly, fuck off. I'll make assumptions about whatever I like. You dont need to be a rocket scientist to have a rough idea of the minimum he has earned in his career, hes played for some good clubs, because he USED to be a good player. What are you? his fucking mum or something? I dont know what hes currently paid (i doubt even sandy knows that) but the concensus would seem to be that he is one of our higher earners. that makes £1k a week realistic. I'm an STFC fan, who pays this idle mother fuckers wages. I dont wish any harm on him or hs family, but to be honest the financial welfare of Gareth Whalley's family means fuck all to me. A small bit of MY families monthly income ends up in his back pocket for doing fuck all, and i'm certainly not earning £1k a week, or even close to that The point about the amount of money he has earned is a valid one, if we were talking about Phil smith here i'd have much more sympathy as I doubt hes any richer than half of the people on here. As for his sideways passing, clearly retaining possesion can be very important in a game. The trouble comes when it happens to be the players only discernable skill, as he cant run, tackle or shoot. Now go and make his dinner or something

ditto spudd. phil smith seemed to saddle up with another club soon enough, maybe he doesnt actually want to move clubs? he certainly seems happy enough to fuckarse about here, waste part of our wage budget and do nothing but agitate the fans...

We pay his wages so make the cunt clean the toilets, paint the gates sell programmes and serve food at half time.If he refuses you can cancel his contract as he is refusing to do the job the club have asked him to do

I actually don't think Whalley is that bad, better than a great deal of other midfielders in our division. However him digging his heals in over a release is digusting

All he's doing is looking after his family financially. I'm sure if a club comes in for him, he'll go. Until that time, he's doing what any of us would do. As for him being lazy, he's spent most of the season injured and has been told he won't be picked anyway. There's bigger targets than Whalley at the club who pick up lots of money for doing fuck all. And I'm not on about players.......

He's got a contract. End of. Til the club sell him/another club comes in he's not going anywhere. It doesn't matter what he's being paid or what he does or doesn't do, he and the board/manager have a contractual obligation.

I dont care about his family's welfare, or the wage he has earned over his career. I'm just stating i dont think its relevant to comment on prior wages at other clubs when the whole issue is based on his wages now and in the future at STFC.
