Perhaps it's a legacy of my best mate being Villa and me giving him stick/him complaining loads, takes me back to Alan Thompson, Steve Watson, Angel, Baros, Sorenson for a while. A few years back they spent a fortune and just got loads of rubbish players, come to think of it maybe the players they signed were just rubbish at stupidly high prices.

I thought Alan Thompson was good. But i'm probably thinking about when he was still at Bolton which is a very long time ago now in fairness :shock:

I think the price tag is far too high -
One of my housemates is a Villa fan and says they're paying for the future. Then again, I've never met anyone so tinted by their football club though... They could sign Shaun Close and he'd say that he's a great player.

That's probably because of Doug Ellis though - Ellis was quite tight with the cheque book at times (as a result Villa were a financially sound business pre-Lerner) - I'm sure if O'Leary had the chance he would have brought in a host of players from abroad. |
