Good for Watford too, £9mil seems a bit high IMHO.  As long he doesn't suffer villa syndrome whereby all quality players turn useless as soon as they don the claret and blue.

Not true, Milner did very well at Villa and Sutton and Petrov work their socks off.

Perhaps it's a legacy of my best mate being Villa and me giving him stick/him complaining loads, takes me back to Alan Thompson, Steve Watson, Angel, Baros, Sorenson for a while.  A few years back they spent a fortune and just got loads of rubbish players, come to think of it maybe the players they signed were just rubbish at stupidly high prices.

Correct. As for swapping Baros for Carew  :?  It's a fucking donkey merry-go-round!

I've never really rated Baros or Angel anyway

Agreed. Villa would be in the relegation zone if it wasn't for Barry's penalty taking!

I thought Alan Thompson was good. But i'm probably thinking about when he was still at Bolton which is a very long time ago now in fairness

I know a Watford fan who thinks the Young deal is fantastic business. I am inclined to agree.

I think the price tag is far too high -

One of my housemates is a Villa fan and says they're paying for the future. Then again, I've never met anyone so tinted by their football club though... They could sign Shaun Close and he'd say that he's a great player.

To be fair Villa are good at bringing through youngsters, Agbonlahor has just been improving and improving.

Yes, they have plenty of players from their Youth set-up which is always good. That's probably because of Doug Ellis though - Ellis was quite tight with the cheque book at times (as a result Villa were a financially sound business pre-Lerner) - I'm sure if O'Leary had the chance he would have brought in a host of players from abroad.

That's another player added to the £6mill+ but no england cap brigade, he's replaced Chris Kirkland.
