Anyone know what's the average cost to get one changed. Mine is going to cast £150. They're changing the lot (some kind package, which relates to the cambelt, something to do it being a Vauxhall). The belt and stuff £100 and £50 for the service. Is this about fair? Has anyone had their's changed before And is it a long job?

£150 quid! I had one changed on my old car a few years ago, was about £50, parts and labour.
Shop around blinkers.

It depends what car it is though. If it's a little 1.2 8v then yeah, you could probably get it done for £50 but it won't last.
On the other hand, if it's a 2.0 16v you could be looking at £150-£200 easy.
If the belts gone it'd probably be cheaper to buy a new car.

Did the belt break? If it did, expect another '0' on the end of the bill. Sounds reasonable from a main dealer, but you could certainly get it done cheaper if you shop around.

Yes thats very fair id say id asume they are changing the tensioners as well. Yep sounds about right. It's a complete package. Comes in a set, not just a cambelt. He did say, He can just change the cambelt. But it's best to get the whole lot done. It may cost more if the cam belt and stuff goes wrong. This bloke, would never rip off anyone, he's a softie. I am useless with cars. It's a Vauxhall tigra (mine & missis) waits for backlash . My belt hasn't gone, I thought I better get it done, as I have no history on when it was last done and I think the previous owners were talking shit when they said it was done the other year ago. And I know it's a girls car.

£150 for a cambelt and service on a Tigra is pretty reasonable I'd say.
Don't worry about the girls car though mate, I've got a Renault Megane Coupe myself (hairdressers car).
