The Orange Revolution needs more clarification at games, I know of a few instances where I have spoken to people etc and they have said , why does everyone wear Orange etc? I have explained the situation to them and they say, “What have the board done wrong” These fans are likely casual fans who go for the football and don’t worry about the behind the scenes stuff.

I also know of a couple of instances where youth football teams have gone to games as guests of the club and the kids have been given orange hats, and because its free they are excited and accept it unaware of what it stands for and inadvertently protest against the club, whilst they have no problems with the board or any one else at the club and infact have been invited by the club to watch the game with their youth team so they can enjoy the experience of league football.

These managers of these youth teams then need to email the club apologising as they fear they may have offended the club and think it may lead to the club not accepting them at games etc anymore.

well most of the people I spoke to when I was handing them out seemed to know what the orange was all about .. including some of the kids from local schools and teams .. so Id have to disagree with you Gazza .. have u signed on for the board or something .. you seem to be adopting a very anti revolutionary stance

if gazza was as upset as he said he was following that pm and also the other comments he wouldn't feel the need to go over this old ground and risk it happening again. everyone has a right to an opinion, but if he really wanted to put the football ahead of the politics following the stuff that's happened to him recently, he wouldn't be posting this. don't be surprised if people's bites are worse than their barks over this sort of stuff.

i don't really want to shoot the lad down and say he's wrong and there's always got to be some improvement (and a strive towards it) in communication to the fans from the Trust, but he's playing a dangerous game if he really doesn't want to get confrontational

I know most genuine people actually respect I have an opinion. This wasn't a knock against Orange Revolution just saying what could happen, On the other hand you do see people in town wearing the hats etc!

That's fine Gary, but from the evidence I've seen, you've been just as political, if not more, since you stepped down from the Trust. Despite your contradictory statement you wanted to be less political.

I'm not surprised people have started to say you're on the board

God If I ever got on the board we would be in trouble.   Plus, I didnt want to be part of say a political side head on, which say it failed, I personally would be held accountable along with the other people involved. I don appreciate your comments though. Does make sense.

Gazza you support the team other's who back the orange revolution support the club.  The attitude of oh as long as the team does well is crazy.

I am sure promotion will be easily forgotten come the summer if under the current board the club either goes out of business or moves to Chippenham, make no mistake these are realistic possibilities.

I understand your going through a tough time and I hope very much that your mum gets better but that is no need to surrender your beliefs you were once on that trust board and a firm believer in making a difference for the better of the club, I think the turn around in your opinion has not benefited anyone and just think perhaps you should re-evaluates whats important to you the team or the club.

While it's a legitimate point, Gary, and not one that should lead people to accuse you of being Switzerland or even Belgium, it's extremely old ground that's been done to death here and elsewhere. In my experience and that of everyone else I've spoken to who's handed out hats, people who take them know exactly why they're taking them and what it's about. And before we get the "What about the five-year olds?" chestnut, actually there's very few kids that young at the game at all much less wearing hats - those that are are doing so at the behest of their parents who have brought them to the game. Personally I've been very impressed by the number of 60-70 year olds who've come up and taken hats as that's one age group I really didn't think would wear them, not because they disagreed but simply out of consideration for personal dignity! Can we move on now or while you're dragging over old ground that's been done to death would you like to have a quick thread on whether economic and imperial tensions between the Great Powers made WWI inevitable?

Stanley does seem to have gone millitant all of a sudden over the space of around a month..odd as he was once a member of the trust board that he should seemingly go against the vast majority

Do you think he has been promised pride of place by stfc at the next meeting and some exclusives for his website if he backs them

Easily bought perhaps ?

Do I not remember seeing young Stanley helping to hand out Orange hats - did you not explain to people what they was about then ?

What Si said

There is a massive gap Gary between retiring from the "politics of it all", as you have stated on numerous occasions, and stating that youth team officials send an e mail of apology to the club in case it has been upset by the actions of a group of 11 yr olds.

If you want to stay neutral and away from the politics as you inform us you you then I suggest that you think about the possible reactions before posting.
