....and that starts on Monday with Lincoln visiting MK Dongs in a Sky televised game.   I suppose a draw would be ideal, but a handsome 5-0 Dongs win could see us go up to third without playing.

I thought at the start of the season,  a period of consolidation and a cup run under Wise would have been good.....a bit like Wycome's season.  But now we have to try and go full out for automatic...so no distractions.   Think Wycombe have won once since getting to the LC semi.....they're not going to get auto, but should be OK for PO's.

Two of the top five are probably going to enter the PO's on  a downer.....lets hope its not us.

1     Walsall     26  56
2    Franchise    26 51
3    Lincoln City    26 50
4    Swindon    26 50
5    Hartlepool    27 48
6    Wycombe    27 43
7    Peterborough    26 38
8    Hereford    26 37
9    Shrewsbury    26 36
10    Bristol Rovers    26 36
11    Stockport    26 35
12    Notts County    26 35

Interesting looking at the top half of the table right now. Reaching the playoffs from this position would be total and utter failure. The problem is that none of the top 5 have cup distractions either. Automatic promotion must be the minimum acceptable from this position.

I don't think reaching the PO's would necessarily be seen as a failure, but its perceived wisdom that if you end up in the PO's after a narrow failure at auto....you usually fail in them.

I've never subscribed to this"F.A.Cup is a distraction"belief.Good cup runs breed confidence in my opinion. Our last decent F.A.Cup run came in the season we won the championship unluckily going out to Prem League Southampton after a replay
