Worth five million?

Quote
West Ham have signed Fulham captain Luis Boa Morte for an undisclosed fee, thought to be about £5m.

Seems a ridiculous amount of money for a fairly average player albeit one that has tremendous patches of good form from time to time.

Frustrating but enjoyable to watch mind in a similar vein to one of my all time favourites (Barry White Stylie) Peter Ndluuuuuuurve.  Think he’ll do well enough at West Ham they seem to appreciate that style of player but 5 million seems a bit bloody steep if you ask me.

Not really. Tevez has been playing out of position. Play him upfront or just behind the strikers, That is where he played for Boca and Corinthinas. Boa Morte is cover for Etherington. Curbishley said on SSN.

£5m for a 29 year-old is quite alot, especially as a lot of his game is due to pace. West Ham need to make some short-term gambles with the situation they're in though.

I thought Etherington was going in the other direction as part of the deal?

EDIT:  Just checked BBC and apparently not...

Henry is 30 years old and a lot of his game is due to pace and he is valued at about £30 million.

Nearly true, he's 29 but has for the last 6 years been an absolute star at world level, Henry is a different league to boa morte.

They've signed Nigel Quashie for £1.5m now, again ridiculously over-priced. Would suggest to me that Reo Coker is on his way out

Because he has been utter shit in the Premiership, he's an average Championship player.

I think wikipedia sum it up well....

Transferred to West Ham United on 8th January as they looked to players with experience in being relegated from the Premiership

Quashie has been relegated from the Premiership with QPR, Nottingham Forest, Southampton and West Brom. Not that i'm suggesting that he's solely to blame, but it ain't looking good if you're a Hammers fan
