Hickmans that would be. dunno if it's still open, but they would sell a good cable. sevenoaks would be your best bet methinks, i get all my stuff from there.

I use these cables

http://ws1.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=CAMB-3.5MMATLA

They are very good quality, Richer Sounds is the place to go, the one in Swindon's closed though so order them off the t'internet.

I have loads of space in my room at uni, I've got a double bed and could easily fit another one in.  (Odviously I don't need two beds though).

those cables would be excellent as BWB has suggested.

i've got floor standing speakers as part of my system so that's why it's a no no. I got my first system from richer sounds, but the customer service compared to other places is dire, and although it's cheap (which is nice), they don't stock most manufacturers/lines of stock.

the red and black cables are the auxiliary in bit. this goes to a head phone-type socket. they cost about £1.50.

why do people spend £hundreds on stereos and spend fuck all on cables? it's like putting cheap oil in a sports car!

why do people spend £££'s on cables when you can get the same sound from a much cheaper one?

it's all relative to the standard of everything else. Fair enough, an i-pod is not going to produce the best quality sound and an upgrade wouldn't sound too much different.

If i have an amplifier that's worth £350 and a cd player worth £50, it takes away the point in having that amp. It's a bit like that with the cables

Yeah the cables do make a difference, once you get past fairly decent then there's not much in it but the cheap ones make it sound really tinny on decent speakers. I got most of my hi-fi stuff off ebay.

the sound from my £400 aiwa 4-unit (tuner, amp, cd, md) hi-fi hooked up to my ipod via the cheap cable is damn good.
