The speakers that came with my computer have just about packed up.  They just stop playing every so often and usually have a crackely sound in the background.  This is probably because I put them on max sometimes when I have a shower so that I can hear them Smiley Plus I dropped one of them the other day.
So does anyone have any suggestions on a decent set of speakers to get for my computer, I want something that has good bass because at the moment I have to keep burning all my songs onto CD to play in my stereo.
Alternatively does anyone know if I can l link the speakers from my stereo  up to my computer so that I can use it for the computer as well? I was going to try doing this but the cables to the back of the stereo  are those ones that you have to clip in, so do I special wire to link it up or what?

does your stereo have an "auxiliary in" on the back of it? it's one white hole, one red one.

Um you've definately blown your speakers by playing them too loudly. speakers shouldn't really be turned up past the 1 o' clock position if you want them to last. why not get a 2.1 speaker package (two channel with sub). i've got these ones. not the loudest things on earth but can produce the bass. i suggets you get something similar and look at the reviews on numerous websites.

Unfortunately i dont think there is a way of linking your stereo speakers to your pc. why not put your pc going through your stereo via the aux socket instead though?

Do you rekon I would have got a special cable to do that with the speakers or would I have to buy one?

very dusty

Tell me about it.  Our house is Victorian, and apparently old houses collect more dust, in addition to that my room was part of a recent extension which means even more dust.  The amount of dust I get in my room is stupid.  If I was to lean behind my desk where the radiator is now and blow at it I would probably catch asthma

I have my pc connected to an amp so I can play it through decent speakers.

I've got some of these at the moment:

does your pc have a 2 socket phono output (RCA) for sound? or just headphone? if it's the former, just plug this cable into your pc and stereo: http://www.dabs.com/images/uk/products/Audio_Cables/3BFF_large_150x150.jpg

otherwise use a cable like this, one end goes into your headphone socket of the pc and the other into the hifi:

I've used my hi-fi as my PC speakers for awhile now, it's much better. All I did was buy a cheap wire, one end with a normal headphone jack on and the other with a special adaptor - I'd take a photo if it but my CD collection engulfs my hi-fi. Go into Dixons or something and ask, unless you find the most useless person in existance you should get what you need easily.

edit: just noticed the pic's si posted, mine is the second.

Yeah I think the second one should do the job. I'll see if I can get holf of one.  Doesn't look like it should be too expensive.  Cheers for the help

like yoof said go to dixons. they do one from JVC that's alright. i'd suggest getting a reasonable one, because it will be going from the headphone jack. a few quid extra could make a lot of difference sound wise.

edit: sevenoaks sound and vision will have better cables. Might be more expensive, but you could get something good for £20. It all depends on your budget  really.
