Just saw Smarmes on TV spouting his usual bullshit.
One thing that did puzzle me though, Smarmes said that the club has not received a firm offer from the consortium and instead of reporting a denial, the presenter said that the consortium have said that they will be making an offer in the next few weeks.
Why? If this is true, why haven't they made an offer already?
I know it's not an overnight thing, but I would think that the first step would be to make a formal offer.
Or have I completely lost the plot?

Or have I completely lost the plot? We have been trying to negotiate a form of NDA with SSW since November 2nd. The manifesto is now complete and will be issued this week. I know that is a little sketchy Hertha but the the starting point before any formal offer was tabled was to get an "in principal" agreement prior to any negotiations taking place.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, when takeovers or significant purchases of businesses happen, isn't usual to have preliminary talks before making offers? And from what I hear the club hasn't allowed such a thing to occur.

So The Board are just doing their usual tricks, trying to make the consortium look like chancers. Bring on Rovers!! Hopefully there will be enough of us doing impressions of giant satsumas to show the board they're no longer wanted.........

it's a bit like a car purchase... you don't make an offer without having a look under the hood first do you?

So, if we make an offer they'll be happy to start the process...
I have a shiney 1p coin here Mr Starnes, I'll swap it for the club, can I now begin proper negotiations?
Idiots, who the hell buys a business by making an offer before checking everything - duh.

I',m still quite surprised by the prevailing attitude which seems to be that the takeover will eventually happen - I honestly don't think the club have any intention to EVEr enter genuine talks wiht any form of fans initiative, whether sponsored by Bill Power or not - they see it as a defeat. They're bastards - cold hearted bastards to a man.

Yes. No. its not going to be made pubic? Extract from the Trust manefesto: 1 (a) Get a fan appointed onto the board. 1 (b) Remove dunwwody and Mike Diamandis from club 1 (c) Get Bill to buy Aston Martins for the entire trust board. except Gary Stanley who recieves an Escort Cosworth which is more fitting for thugs that get ejected from grounds

Yes, but these muppets seem to have things to hide and i shudder to think that when access to the books is allowed, we are in for a nasty surprise. Millom
