Perhaps if people genuinely want to protest then there are other ways to do it ..... protest peacefully outside people's business addresses (away from the players) or send mass mail to each director .. they will have to open them all to establish what they are.

logistics my friend, how are people going to get to newbury? will anyone actually be there?

if we need to avoid players, weekdays outside the club would be best - but people will be at work. the players are also now eating after training at the club now i believe.

several hundred to a thousand fans remaining in the stand after the game or outside the arkells to display their backing for the fan's consortium isn't quite on the scale of the mayday riots.

I can't see how a protest could exacerbate the situation if the board are still unwilling to enter into talks two weeks from now!

I know footballers are perceived to be a bit thick, but if they are applauded off the pitch and only hear chants concerning the current non playing regime, then I don't think they'd take it personally!!

I'm all for the consortium to get control with the minimum of fuss, but if that's what it takes...................

Just thinking how often players use the excuse of "unrest off the pitch" as an excuse.

Also I really do think that a protest at the Director's place of work (even at a race meeting as well) would embarrass people far more than a local protest at the ground.  Imagine them having to explain it to employees etc!

I've got nothing against your idea maverick, the problem for me and a few others I would imagine, is that we live a fair distance from Swindon and can only manage to get down on matchdays.

As Sonic said, the unrest amongst fans is only going to escalate until this situation is resolved.

It would be class to have a Swindon Town demonstration during a bbc tv racing outside broadcast - wee Willie wouldn't know what was going on.

The only problem is it'd mean some of us missing a match!!

it shouldn't be an excuse at all.

the players are employed by the football club to do a job on the pitch, to win games and achieve set targets and goals. the same applies to the manager, coaching staff, physios etc.

they should not be getting involved with politics behind the scenes at the club nor do i see why it's a distraction... how is it going to affect what they do on a daily basis?

at the moment the situation is tentative as the consortium is still in it's infancy, or at least that's how i see it. the infrastructure is not entirely in place and it needs more support from the fans in order for those behind the consortium to garner a greater understanding of what the fans want, as well as giving them the numbers to signal to the board what the paying public feel.

this is why i think protests at this stage would be inappropriate. perhaps i'm wrong and the consortium are close to a breakthrough, i'm no more 'clued up' than the next man.

when the time is right, i'm all for protests directed at the board regardless if it does impact performances on the pitch. this is for the long-term good of the club, any impact the team suffers will be short-term only.

vive la revolucion!

Unfortunately think the flat season is over.......some judiciously scribed graffiti in the rolling acres of the Cotswolds might send a message.

Another little point.

At present, we are being told that the board do not feel that the Trust (Which to them at least, is ailigned to the consortium) is representative of the majority of town fans.

SSW et al do not, I would imagine, scan the Swindon Town forums and could therefore be thinking that the current attempt at a takeover is something that most fans are ambivalent toward.

A demonstration would put that right!

Spuddy's right, that's the start of the revolution, it's not too much to ask you fella's to find something orange to wear, or show, at the match is it?

(PLEASE NOTE THIS WON'T BE AS HARD AS YOU IMAGINE - MORE SOON!)

We need to show the current board members that we're not happy, we support the fans consortium and that their time is coming to an end.

The orange idea simply won't get the coverage needed to make an impact. If by the Rovers game they have shown no will to talk then I think a protest, suitably organised, would be appropriate.

You can tie in 'Sack the Board' with a few 'Red Army' chants and 'Wise Men Say'

But, we need a bit of direction from Mike Wilks and the Trust on this - they are the only ones who know exactly how the talks are progressing.

We mustn't let this lose momentum - 2 days ago we were talking of the board 'desperately clinging onto power' and now I think the geberal feeling is that the board won't budge, despite no more news coming out.

If it comes down to making the board hate being at the CG and being on the receiving end of a protest then so be it

Buy a fucking Donnay one. It'll probably cost 50p and they always have hideous colours like bright Orange.
