Dr. Cyclops sounds ace. It's on at 3.

Quote

Honey I Shrunk The Kids meets Homer's 'The Odyssey' in a 1940s sci-fi/horror treat from King Kong director Ernest B Schoedsack

Seven years after he co-directed the original King Kong, Ernest B Schoedsack was back using his old special effects tricks to make this cracking B-movie. The film's original trailer tells you exactly what to expect: "One of the most amazing, fantastic events the human race has ever encountered," it rants. "Men and women in every way as normal as you... and you... and you... are reduced in size until they are only 14 inches tall!! Victims of the diabolical genius of a mad scientist's twisted mind. Dr Cyclops!"

The victims in question are four American scientists (Logan, Coley, Halton and Kilian). They've been summoned to a laboratory in the Peruvian jungle where the world's leading micro-biologist, Dr Alexander Thorkel (Dekker), has developed a radiation gizmo that shrinks living organisms. When his guests pester the Doc for a demonstration, Thorkel zap them until they're barely bigger than three Kens and a Barbie. The fun really starts when the increasingly maniacal Thorkel (who looks like a cross between Peter Lorre and Mr Magoo) chases his miniature prey into the jungle.

Everything around them now seems super-sized, and just as perilous as King Kong's Skull Island. Cacti as tall as skyscrapers tower ominously overhead, a cat the size of a tiger chases the group through a forest of giant grass, and alligators roam free like vast dinosaurs in a prehistoric age. With their physical powers so severely diminished, the runaways must rely on their wits alone to escape. Luckily, all those late nights staring into a microscope have taken a heavy toll on Thorkel. His eyesight is deteriorating fast (the film's not called Dr. Cyclops for nothing) and he's lost without his spectacles. If only they can find a way to destroy them.

I missed this amusingly titled channel 4 show this morning

 11:00  Crip on a Trip
 [subtitles] [watch live]
It's a rite of passage for young people, but can a wheelchair-bound boy cope with all that a cross-European summer trip throws at him?

It's anti-PC gone mad.

I think I saw a bit of the crip thing. He was mobile enough to be drinking kronenbourg.

Ace Dr. Cyclops is starting. Wow, it's in technicolor!

Dazed and Confused is just starting on Film4. I've got a vague memory of seeing it before but can't really remember.

Ferris Bueller's Day off is on this week at some point.  I was chastised at the weekend for never having seen it, so I'll give that a watch.

Strangely the person doing the chastising had never seen Bugsy Malone.
