I liked pro evo on the xbox but the controller always put me off a bit. The 360 controller has the 2 buttons on the shoulder so it's all gravy.
That new Nintendo thing looks shite and Wembley will be open by the time the PS3 is out.
PCs are where it's at though kids. Boo... I'm bored of slightly better looking versions of the same games. At least Nintendo are trying somthing a bit different. Look how much more fun games the DS has compared to the PSP. Nothing to do with the games, I played loads of n64 last year, it has some quality games. But just look at the wii. It looks like it might live up to it's name. Those remote thingies look too weird. It'll flop like the gamecube

ability to play total back log of Nes, Snes, N64 games plus some Mega Drive games. Sold! Games these days look brilliant and sound brilliant but the playability is fucking shite and you get bored after about 10 minutes The old 2d side to side Super Mario platform games are still 20+ years on some of the most playable games around

Yeah, and you can plug them into to different adapters, Last I heard the big long nes like remote stick could slot into a classic controller. Aswell as being able to wave it around like a tennis racket, golf club, sword, etc. As someone who's followed gaming stuff for quite a while, the Wii looks interesting whilst the ps3 and xbox 360 look a bit like watching very pretty paint dry.

Goldeneye was and probably still is one of my favourite games if only for the memories of the multiplayer games with friends, pure class. It'll flop like the gamecube In all fairness though, the gamecube was never a flop, it was a massive hit with the underground animation gamers, but unfortunately with the advance in technology and graphics it was never going to keep up with shop sales of rivals of Sony and Microsoft. I think the Wii will cater to all those underground kids that yern to keep in touch with the old machines and games, but want to be able to try their hand at a few more modern games too - perfect combo. My only concern, and it was the same with the cube, is that their main game pitchers are simply not as good as the rest of the market. I mean Zelda? gone and past it I'm afraid, and thus they are left to pick up the younger market with their endless kids animation games. If they want to succeed, as they know they cant compete with the Sony and Microsoft brand power when it comes to games like GTA etc, then they had to release something a bit different - that they certainly have! I hope that its a massive hit, but even if it isnt - I still think they have done well to have the balls to be different, unlike the samey progression that Sony and Microsoft keep coming out with, becuase they are scared that they will fall behind if they dont keep pace with each other!

Ok, i can kind of see the point of the sword - and maybe the tennis since playing in the privacy of your own home means no one can see you playing such a gay excuse for a sport.

No..... Zelda games are class, always have been. However, as I said before, now a days its all about graphics etc. It appears to me Nintendo are going back to basics and are focusing on game play of their games rather than anything else. If they can do that games like Zelda and Mario will be great....

Don't see as they had much choice. Continue to be dominated by Sony and MS and whither away, or come out fighting in a do or die effort. Agree with DV regarding gameplay. Case in point, EA Sports Fifa v Kick Off 2. The latter wins hands down in 2 player mode for gameplay, yet it looks like a bag of shit graphically.

It was a flop. There were hardly any games on release and it got outsold by other consoles. My housemate got given one in uni and it was mega ace, but by then nobody bothered with it.

[geeky rant]
Financially wise Nintendo are doing better in the gaming market than both Sony and Microsoft. They have the hand held market cornered with the DS, the only thing the PSP is good for is some home brewed stuff and Sony for some reason go out there way to stop it. Microsoft loose money on all their consoles but are trying to get a foothold. Sony is initially selling the ps3 for less than it costs them to make. In fact I'm sure if you look up there expected profit it's down about 96%.
If your gonna get a ps3 then I'm sure it'll have some fun games. But then what's come out on the xbox 360 which hasn't come out on other consoles in a less prettier version? Do you really care if your character in Gta 7 and 1/2 looks slightly more realistic, are they changing the game enough to make in more interesting than the last, probably not, at best the cities will be slightly bigger.
Anyhoo, fair shout to Nintendo for going for something different, a control system around an idea of being versatile and fun instead of just getting prettier graphics for your latest sports/driving/gangster fps game.
Of course, Nintendo have their faults, they've previosuly been very strict about liscensing games for their systems. Apart from the cost of cartridges, one of the main reasons that the playstation one did better than the n64. There was a lot of crap released for psx but at least they let anybody have a go.
It'll come down to the wether or not Nintendo have done the Wii at he right time. Are people fed up of the same games with slightly better graphics yet? are they willing to give up the latest fifa / proevo for a crazy Nintendo golf / soccer where you swing your controller around like a moron? Who knows. I'm sure there are enough people out there with money to burn to want to rince out their pockets on a ps3. But I'm sure I'd proably have more fun with a Wii.
Also you can play old Snes games. Finally a Europe release of Chrono Trigger?
Meh.
[/geeky rant]
anyhoo, sorry about that.
