I believe all the nominees got us relegated or were present at the club in a relegation season, with the exception of Mackay.

Iffy.  We had a resonably decent squad last season, and he had around 37 games to keep us up.  Whilst he came in when the morale of the club was low, we played too predictably, and ended up getting relegated.
In hindsight, Wisey or even Sturrock would have probably kept us up

Gorman was totally out of his depth, spending £600k on Mark Robinson, £800k for Beauchamp and £500k on Whitbread was a total waste, we didn't have that kind of money to throw away.
