Exactly and if they succeed he will be off like a shot
We need stability not someone else who will run at the first offer

I would rather have a more committed manager without a clause than have Sturrock with the clause, if he's asking for a clause like that then it does not look good at all!!
He's only just left wednesday and i know there is a power struggle going on at wednesday at the moment which is not good as if the consortium take over there Sturrock would be gone like a shot, i think if Sturrock really wants the job he should not be demanding any clause and the board should turn round to Sturrock and say sorry but this clause isn't going into the contract if you don't agree with it then we will go for someone else.
Knowing the muppets on the board though they will put the clause in and in the near future we will be back in the same situation again!!!!

How long will he be signing for? 2 and a bit seasons I reckkon. There's a fair chance within this time that anyone could come and get him. The compo is the only issue here, not the fact that Sturrock could bugger off. Of course this is all if he signs. I bet we get Rix now

Although I think the clause is stupid, id rather have Sturrock with that clause than not have him at all...
Plus its all rumours

From that League paperathingamibob..
Paul Sturrock will walk into Dennis Wise's shoes at Swindon Town tomorrow- with the management team who helped him lift Plymouth Argyle to two promotions.
Sturrock, 50, is back in management just over a fortnight after being controversially sacked by Sheffield Wednesday, who also parted company with coaches Kevin Summerfield and John Blackly.
Now the axed trio will target a Wiltshire repeat of the West country wonder that saw Plymouth transported into the championship.
Sturrock, who watched Swindon's home game with Hereford yesterday, has been cleared to take charge of the league two high-flyers by a rapid agreement on compensation with Wednesday of around £200,000.
His Swindon contract will contain a clause that he can leave without compensation should Wednesday , where he was immensely popular with fans ever want him back. Town will agree knowing that such an event is extremely unlikely.
Sturrock said " Swindon are a great club with great support. I've been reading some of their messageboards and was very impressed with one lad by the name of Spacey, he is very intelligent, witty and highly fashionable. It was his greatness that convinced me to make the move."
There's more but I can't be arsed to type it out. Hang on a minute....we have to pay compensation to Wednesday even though they've sacked him!!!!!!!? ??
