Who thinks that Paul Sturrock will be appointed as the new manager of STFC next week sometime?

Some fool on the thisis site thinks Big Ron is going to be appointed next week, somehow i can't really see this happening, we don't want him as our new manager!!!

Most fans want Sturrock with Nijholt a close second, i would love Sturrock to come here, he has the knowledge of the lower leagues and has done it before and knows what is required to get a team up out of this league and league one!!

Seton Wills wants experience and i think it's got to be either Sturrock or Nijholt, i would definitley go for Sturrock over Nijholt!!

No disrespect to Ady Williams, he is a top bloke and a good player but i don't think he's the right man for the job at the moment, maybe in 3-5 years after he has done some coaching with us then maybe but the time is not right for him at this moment in time!

We don't want idiots like Rix, Mcallister, Little, Worthington etc taking over!!!

I've heard that Gary Mcallister, Ron Atkinson and Brian Little have applied but i'd rather have Sturrock than all of those!!

Yes they do?

The Poll set up in this site has Sturrock ahead by miles.

While all this talk of Sturrocks and Nijholts is great, lets not get carried away and lets think of the money.

The board will not gamble, last year we needed to bring in a strong expirenced manager to turn Kings shower of shite round, we ended up with Iffy Onuora.

Again, we need a good strong manager to keep the players going and to get us promoted, but for purely money reasons we will get Adie Williams BECAUSE he is the cheapest options.

Dont fool yourselves into thinking we're going to get anyone different, yes Martin whatsisface is making all the right noises and saying the right thing but thats his job.

It'll be Adie....

Not because he was the most obvious choice then? Very few clubs appoint an external caretaker boss DV, if we'd done that, the job would have been as good as theirs.

Obviously, they had to make the right noises regarding Adi, they were hardly going to say, "We're not going to give Adi a chance to impress, we know he's shit".

To my mind, Williams is a caretaker manager. But i've been duped by this board before :|

Most obvious choice as caretaker yes, but I'm on about permenant manager.

Say we win the next 5 what does that prove about Adie's management....nothing?

It just proves that our player are too good to be playing in this fucking awful league and we already know that.

We should be expecting to win all our games, anything else isnt good enough with the players we have....

To me, even 4th place isnt good enough. We need a manager who will get us to top spot and keep us there. Adie Williams will not do that because he isnt a manager.

I'm sure sometime in the future he will make a great manager I really do, but we cant afford to give him this season as a learning curve.

Us fans are all expecting promotion and I wont accept anything else. This isnt a season for changes, or learning curves. This is a season for winning games....

if we appoint Sturrock i expect us to go up automatically. if we appoint Williams we will struggle to reach the play-offs and thats not what we want

I totally agree with the fact that we need an experienced external appointment.

I totally disagree that our players are too good for this league. A few of our players are too good for this league, maybe 4 or 5. The main difference between us and the rest of the league, is we're fitter and more organised than most.

Apart from Wrexham in the second half, when they played some good football. Wycombe in the first half half and Hartlepool.

The teams have been shite

Jack Smith, Jerel Ifil, Andy Nicholas, Adie Williams, Jamie Vincent, Paul Evans, Aaron Brown, Lee Peacock & Christian Roberts have all decent seasons in higher leagues, some of which we've seen first hand

We shouldnt be struggling to beat anyone

I still can't help but feel the club will go for the cheap appointment in Williams and Hunter, especially if we win today. The board will hear a few chants of 'Aidy's barmy army' and assume we all want him.

im going to be pissed off if Adi gets the job. take nothing away from the bloke i think he could be a decent manager and will be in a few years time. but its not right for the club. it will be like the whole Iffy thing was last year and it could cost us promotion

i'd only say that smith, ifil and evans are capable of playing at a higher level succesfully. the others could do a job but they're nothing special.

we're not the best team in the league and we've not got some godgiven right to promotion.
