I was watching the Rugby between Bath and the Ospreys the other week and saw that the question over the redevelopment of the Bath Rec for Rugby was in question.

Thers a big campaign to keep Rugby in Bath requiring big investment in the ground, but also a vocal campaign to turn down ground redevelopment due to environmental issues.

According to BBC1 (Grandstand), one option being seriously considered was  a move to Swindon.

Surely the only option would be the CG.

If this is the case, it would surely bring extra income to the club and raise our profile.

This has worked for Reading FC with London Irish. Does anyone have any news on this??

Has the club been in talks with Bath RFC over this??

It was seriously mooted by both parties for a while and there was a piece in one of the nationals a couple of weeks ago although it turned out to be old news.

From what I have seen and herd the fans are dead set against the move and a petition is doing the rounds with the full support of club.

Can’t see it happening unless we move home in their direction.  Besides haven’t Swindon got a Rugby team albeit rather a dreadful one looking at their results?

For me whilst the money would be good, the prospect of cider swilling egg chasers turning up and ruining the pitch hardly fill me with joy.  If it was rugby league I'd be more interested.

but think of being able to drink beer in the stands.

It's not likely to happen as Bath fans won't go for it, if anything they'd probably end up developing in Chippenham as a last resort.

You prefer girly northern touch rugby? Give me proper rugby any day. Just not on our pitch (though Reading manage OK!)..

Fraid so, less emphasis on scoring penalties, more pace and more tries IMHO.

Swindon RFC got promoted last season and struggled at the start of this one against teams that will be towards the top at the end of the season. Won their first game of the season 25-0 on saturday though

We had a bit of a debate about this on MOS recently..

I referred anyone interested to this article which appeared in  the Guardian last month.

And the guys are in general bigger, stronger and better athletes - none of this big, fat, front row lark!

It's much more interesting to watch. The tackling is just as hard - the fact they have to get off afterwards doesn't change that. It just makes the game slightly more tactical and less of being simply a fight with a ball involved

You can tell I'm from up North can't you  Cheesy
