Yesterday was great! I left the ground contemplating a drive home in a good mood, which despite my normally optimistic take on things has evaded me pretty much for the past couple of seasons.

As Si said Pook and Weston were resourceful, add to that the new found consistent Ifil and some crosses going into the box and the result is that we don't find ourselves clinging on to a one goal lead at the end of the game. I can't help but think though, that the fact Grimsby actually came and had a go helped us a bit. Too often this season, teams have come to the County Ground content to snatch a point. On the back of our recent results I get the impression Grimsby fancied it a bit yesterday but in pushing forward, they left us some space to expoit.

Biggest concern still remains the lack of width though, for all the doubts over Shakes end product, he gives us some width on one side and means that when Monkhouse starts wondering into the centre of the pitch (as he seems to do alot!), Weston and Pook don't become smothered, as happens when you have Royce coming inside from the right.

However to end the post on a positive, Rhodes looked good; quick to the point that he made Fola look a little bit of a slouch!

Only players to disappoint were Brownlie and Vincent. Thought Weston was outstanding in the centre

We had 14 shots at goal and 6 were on target. I think that shows how well we played. We also restricted their chances. What more do you want?

Maybe you are getting a little too old  Wink

Me and my mate were worried we would sit back too much after half time but I thought we did well and looked to attack them, especially on the break.

How can you say this team is not good enough for you mr ian?! We are in League Two. It's not gonna be champagne footy every week, but for this level we ARE quite good. When watching games such as Barnet I have sat there thinking "are we really in this division?" but the fact is we are one of the better teams in the league. This team would have stayed up last year and people would not have complained about them one bit. Now we are winning games (okay we had a tough patch) and go and win 3-0 against a team that nearly went up last year and all you can do is say we aren't good enough?

I'm not disillusioned, I just accept that we are in a dire league and the sooner we get out of it the better. Until then can we please not complain about 3-0 wins?

Weston missed a siter of a header and Willaims also blazed over the TE when it was easier to score! It could and should have been more yesterday, but I was chuffed to bits with it.

We didn't get going for a while, but there were signs that we'd worked on some of our shortcomings - the midfield was getting in the box. Brownlie's clearly been instructed to play just tucked in the inside right position - when we attacked down the left he made up a 3rd striker too. But it didn't work - i feel for him because he needs a run inhis favoured position - which he'll get on Tuesday probably with Lukas.

We can afford one winger playing narrow, but not two - Monky's playing well, so i wouldn't consider dropping him - his goal was class, even if the keeper should have done better, and he can pick out a through ball like nobody else we've got.

Peacock looked better with Rhodes than he did with Fola - Rhodes anticipated Peacocks knock-downs better than Fola and was gambling on a few runs through. Thats not a criticism of Onion-Bhaji...he did brilliantly for the 1st goal but he comes looking for the ball deep, just like peacock, leaving nobody central lingering round the 6 yard box.

Its harsh to drop Fola, but I'd be tempted to go to dhrewbury and play the Cock and Rhodes.

Evans must be gutted to see the middle two playng well - they're both playing with confidence and justifying their place.

As for Brez, gutted for him and for us lot - it'll be nigh on impossible to find someone as commanding as he is, and we may have to stick with Smith. He looked competent against Brentford and of course deserves a crack at it, but if we do go looking for someone (as we must) then there's no point getting in someone of equal talent - we've just got to get the most promising young keeper we can. Steve Book anyone?
