I think when skimming through a thread an avatar helps to identify a forummer. Let's face it if you're looking through a thread and you see an avatar that has Steven Gerrard scoring against West Ham in the cup final you know to ignore it and shout CUNTFACE! at the top of your voice. Obviously if you see a picture of Bruce Campbell then you will read what has been written and think to yourself ' wow, spacey's so fashionable and funny. I wish I was just like him.
