I think it should be compulsory TAX.....if you support Swindon or even if you dont.....10% annual income under 40K goes directly to STFC....over £40K becomes 15% and over £100K it should be 20%.......
Then not even the current board could mess up with the finances!! plenty to go around!

Well........ :? ......come on Tony you know its a good idea!!

the truth is due to lack of PROPER accounts we have no idea how much anyone has put in or taken out etc etc .. thats why I take all that talk about how much people have contributed to the club with a pinch of salt

I'm sure his 'income' has come from his Wife's family involvement in the tobacco industry, I'm sure Reginald Perrin has mentioned it before and will clarify again for posterity.

Please don't let this thread turn into an anti-Wills posting - mods lock it if it does.

I just wanted to see what the bloke looked like.

we should be and are gratefull for the amounts of cash he has put into the club.but he's hardly skint is he.how many average fans make financial sacrifices to watch the town play.

Does that mean he should willing surrender his money to a wasteful club because he's wealthy?

I hate the attitude of some people towards those with money.

I know a wealthy person who had some damage done to some of his property by some drunk friends. They fell out over it because as far as they were concerned he was wealthy and it was acceptable to expect him to replace his stuff which he hasn't broken.

Anyway, who gives a fuck if Sir Seton is rich? His wealth is not there for our club, it's there for him to dispose of as he feels fit. If he decides he wants to waste some on our club, then thats his prerogative and i thank him for it.

(Despite the tone of the above arriba, this is not directed at you personally, just me finding a point to chew on.  Wink  )

But back to your original question. Has Sir Seton put more of his disposible income into stfc than the average supporter has?

Probably not, but then why should he? Besides, we can't actually prove anything as we know very little, if anything.

We certainly do not even know if the money which goes to Swindon is classed as disposible?

Afterall the club is no "asset". Technically it's a liability. This liablity needs servicing like any debt, so i'm sure SSW would be looking for tax advantages to help service the debt which is our club. I'm sure most the money we receive will be on a gross basis and come through companies.

for the record i am not having a go at the wills family.
nothing i have said in this thread   has in anyway critisised them.
neither has anyone else in this thread imo.
for anybody to take offence from anything in this thread would be ridiculous

If your talking percentages then its a closer called debate!....on pure face value his contribution outweighs that of even a 50 year supporter.

At what i'd consider to be about £1300 max per season (on average - thats going to all the games and buying two shirts each year) then your talking around a mid 5 digit number maybve pushing to 6 digits if you include petrol etc as well.....but thats over 50 years!!

Wills has put a lot more in, but on his total value i think it'd be less to him than the percentage of a true town fans wages that go on supporting....(say £1200 a year on £21000 (average wage) thats about 7 and a half percent of disposable income I think??
I expect Wills contribution compared to his value may be less than that?? But I could be wrong?!

Disposable income is what you have available to spend after you have paid out all necessary expenditure (ie mortgage, rates, gas bills etc.).

As far as I'm aware (and I stand to be corrected) - his money is predominantly inheritance from the Woodbines tabacco company. I know the Wills' family historically have a lot of links in Bristol too.

They are landed gentry which may go some way to explaining their inability to sit down and listen us lot, assuming that we all wear Burberry print caps and steal notes from our grandparents wallets. They'd be more at home sipping tea at Sandringham than chomping on a pie at Accrington.

Thats not an insult Mr Wills. Please do correct me if I'm wrong.

As for his money: Nobody knows his personal assets, but no matter what they are, I'd say a significant proportion is tied up in STFC. i for one will be eternally grateful for his financial contribution, I just wish he'd choose his advisor more carefully, stop misinterpreting the fans, and appreciate our contribution a tad more. Not tough is it.
