Nope Shakes did well and we couldn't stop winning when he was in the side.
It's simple to me.
Get Royce and Fola up top. Get Shakes out wide. Tell Peacock and Roberts to get a fucking grip.

true about the shakes and winning, conincidense I think
He doesnt have a final ball...something we used to have under Kingy  decent crossers of the ball...
Alot of Parkins goals came from crosses....most from Duke

I like Gary Rhodes hair. Does this lad sport the same hedgehog look and have a knack of cooking sugar filled, fussy puddings?

Hopefully he'll play up top, not on the wing. right winger was more of a priority i think though.

We were all moaning about Monky's lack of pace and willingness to run, so he seems to be a straight swop.
Two options on the left: Slower holding left sided player or faster attacking left winger.
And another option alongside Peacock. The bell's really starting to toll for Roberts again.
Like to see both wingers playing (Shakes and Rhodes) and them both hugging the touchline spreading play wide through Evans and Pook in the middle - the classic 4-4-2.

For once I agree with DMR  Although Shakes' final balls aren't spectacular as pointed out by DVJesus, we are missing him on the wing, him and Smithy hook up well together and get the ball forward. Lets see how how Rhodes gets on before we start slating him

I'd certainly have Shakes over Brownlie as a right sided midfielder. Brownlie just doesn't have the game to run at people from that deep or hold position defensively when needed. He tries, but's it's just not natural to him.
I'd keep the same front 2 as Accy. peacock scored 2 and Fol should have had at least 1. Fola scared the daylights out of the defence and Peacock did much more work in the box (getting into position) because he can pass a bit of the leg work to Fola.
Evans for Pook, just because Evans can score (if he is fit) and then stick with the rest.

Perhaps wise is planning to go 4-3-3?
We dont have any particually good wingers in my opinion, so this may be his idea of getting some width into the side without sacrificing centre mid?
A strikeforce of Fola, Peacock and Rhodes would seem to have a good blend to it.

I like the thinking Peacock as central dominant striker with a quick Fola down the right and Rhodes's apparent pace down the left I could see that working :toppost:

Going on what Wise has said, he sees him as a striker - but he also made a comment that he could come on and cause havoc, which means perhaps he doens't see him starting straight away.
For what its worth, I think Monkhouse is our most creative midfielder - true, he's in slow-mo half the time, but he does add somthing.
One thing i think might be a solution is the 4-3-3 rehatched 4-5-1...We have the personnel: Peacock as the middle man, flanked by secondary strikers with pace who can get balls into the six yard box - Roberts, Rhodes (by the sounds of it) and Fola all fit this bracket.
I personally hate the formation...but as i short term measure to get back on track I don't care if we played with 7 strikers and won 11-10, so long as we started scoring.
then in the midfield we need someone who can sit - Paul Evans - a box-to-box man (dare I bloody say...Pook) and someone who can pick out a pass or two (Weston or Monky)
Ah footie, its not all politics.

I just don't see Wise moving much from the standard 4-4-2 line-up, especially as we have worked so hard on the defensive positions in this formation.
I rate Monkhouse but can see why people wouldn't like him, it's like watching the 6 Million Dollar Man running. But he kept the Accy right back on the back foot in the 2nd half and the guy ended up needing help from the midfield to cover Monky.
Shakes offers natural wide play when on the right and Evans and Weston looked good in the middle together. The fron two caused enough problems on Saturday and with a pacey right winger at least causing concern, Fola would have more of an impact I think. No panic from me with the 4-4-2. Just 1 or 2 swaps in personnel.
