Should he be Banned for a couple of games for the most blatant dive to get a pen for Spurs against Pompey. You have to feel for Pedro Mendes.

Disgraceful decision but probably a better ref than some we've had this year!

This happens all the time. Banning someone isn't the way, but hopefully ref's will now have marked his card as a cheat and so he will be less likely to con officials in the future.

Yes it is the way. If a player is found guilty of cheating because that's what it is, not "simulation", he should receive a two match ban after the first offence.
If he recommits the offence 3 match ban. I'd love to see how managers would react to that, I'm pretty sure after losing their star man just to win a penalty they'd tell there players to stay on their feet as much as they can.

I think banning the cunts is the way to go.
Retrospective 3 game suspensions for bringing the game into disripute (which, lets face it, is what they are doing) would soon stop the fuckers doing it. First of all they wont like missing out on their appearance bonuses and secondly the managers wont stand for players getting themselves banned for 3 games!

Exactly!! You'd soon see a different post match interview if the manager knew his player was out of the next three premiership matches, during an injury crisis.

This is basically Cheating by the players trying to con the ref.

And yet the footballing authorities don't want to crack down on this, as they prefer to see players being booked for kicking the ball away, or taking their shirt off when they score, or taking a free kick too soon.....

i completely agree jan but the difference with those things is it's easy to see when those things are done, there's no grey area. retrospective punishment is the only way forward.
but then it'd only be the top 2 leagues that would have that action due to the lack of cameras stationed round the crap leagues (like us) so how could it be managed? tis a conundrum all right

Thing is though Bennett, no one really takes notices of the other leagues outsidew the top 2. Its the diving in the top two leagues that gets noticed and gives the sport a bad name. Also I beleive diving is not as prevelant in the lower leagues (probably due to the lack of overpaid average at best foreign players)

i agree entirely but to make a rule for purely the top two leagues would be a sham
the only way to get around it would to make the 4th official video it all on his mobile
