Bristol is a big city and should have a big football club. It's not the case though.
11th biggest in the UK.

City as a big club is a complete myth created by City fans.
How can you be big based on potential, therefore something that hasn't even happened yet?
They've had 4 post-WWII top flight seasons - big deal. They've been in Tier 3 since 2000 now. Infact, since the Premiership began City have had 4 seasons in the "Championship" and 11 in "League One".
And they've not actually won a league since 1955!
Bristol is a big city and should have a big football club. It's not the case though. That last line was exactly what I was trying to say Rich.Spot on. I'm crap with words.

I remember 2 seasons ago against Colchester - 2 teen chavs in the Town End (sat next to me) were singing "you sad Northern bastards" to their fans.

Anyway it you want to get technical the government used to have the 7 Core Cities (outside of London) They were: Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, and of course Bristol.
Out of those Bristol seems to have the lowest ranked teams, so maybe their argument has a point.
It went up to 8 when I was there, Nottingham being the 8th. Their two teams are in the same divisions as Bristol's so that means they are in the correct division(s) by the same argument.
Sorry I promised not to post anything else dull for a while....

I should add the Bristol one is boosted in this table by the fact this figure, I think, takes in the surrounding ex-Avon councils ... so it's so strictly the city itself.
