Dear oh dear. Lets feel sorry for them guys........NOT. not after all the grief they gave us last season. What makes me laugh is they are a big club and should be leagues above really with their money and fan base. But they do sod all.

No Sadie they are not a big club and never have been....they flirted with success for a couple of years before the 14/18 Great War and have done nothing much since. We've played them in 44 seasons since joining the league in 1920, and we've been a traditional Div 3 side, as have Shitty.

We've played them in 44 seasons since joining the league in 1920, and we've been a traditional Div 3 side, as have Shitty. I've been having this debate with a friend at work - who's a City fan. My arguement is they, like Reg says, are not a big club. His arguement is that because of their fanbase and the "potential for fans going to matches in the city if they do well" they should be in a higher league. I keep saying to him promotion isn't deserved or bestowed upon anyone, but you have to earn it ... then you become a 'big club' over a period of time. Dumb really. Luton are in a higher league but would you count them as a big club? Or even Wigan - spent their way to the top and can't even fill their piss poor stadium. City get on my tits. So much belief they are 'big', so little effort or proof that they are ... And flogging off starlets to Wigan, in my eyes, proove that they are little more than a feeder club now.

City are as big a club as Bristol Rovers, or Oxford.
Where is this great "fan base" of theirs?

If we played our way into this division, as we did last year, then we deserve to be here.

I'm with chris we were so bad last year, I think we're in danger of forgetting how bad we were. we deserve to be in this league, let's just hope we get out of it sooner rather than later.

oh and Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham... I think the argument that we are too big for this league is not necessarily saying we shouldn't be here. I think it is more a statement that the club has bigger support and is regarded higher than others in the division. I honestly think City are bigger than us. However, they are in League 1 for a reason and unless they do something to sort out the current shambles the only way is down for them. It does not mean I think they should be in a higher league than us, because they waste money on crap, talentless players and are simply not good enough on the pitch

City as a big club is a complete myth created by City fans.
How can you be big based on potential, therefore something that hasn't even happened yet?
They've had 4 post-WWII top flight seasons - big deal. They've been in Tier 3 since 2000 now. Infact, since the Premiership began City have had 4 seasons in the "Championship" and 11 in "League One".
And they've not actually won a league since 1955!
Bristol is a big city and should have a big football club. It's not the case though.
