.......interesting to see how well other teams in our league did last night.
Quite a few disposed of CCC sides, something like 10 sides went through, beating higher ranked opponents....even Rochdale themselves managed a couple of goals before going out.

The Championship seems to be really poor quality this season for some reason.
Good to see some other sides getting their rewards for playing for passion rather than cash

Sunderland are dire this season, although they've got good players. Quinn isn't a manager.

Without having seen the team line-ups ... but judging by our own ... Is this more to do with Championship sides putting out weakened teams than teams above us being shit?

I suppose its possible, but a lot of mid ranking CCC sides like Plymuff, must have big wage bills, and realistically PO's are a long shot, so they should be trying to get through a couple of rounds.

I'd totally agree, Reg, they should be. We were talking last night how, at least in the early rounds, the League Cup is fast becoming as unloved as the League Trophy. I guess if you get a plum tie to start with there's more motivation, but I reckon there's plenty of Championship sides like Luton who find it tough to raise themselves to play sides like Bristol Rovers ... if you see what I mean. It's a Noddy cup ---- UNLESS you get a good side, then it's very important :-)

I would much rather be sitting top of the league than hoping for a decent 4th round of the league cup draw come January.
Injuries and suspensions, that's all you get with a league cup run. I don't think Bill Power will be too worried about missing out on a "glamour" tie against Hartlepool in the next round.

im with Jan. who really cares? we are top of the league and that's all that matters. would you rather go to Old Trafford or win the league?
