1/ You will need a HD compatible TV to reap the benefit. Expect to pay anything from £699 up depending on size and make.
2/ Sky will charge you £299 for a HD box. If you already subscribe to Sky its still £299.
3/ On top of your monthly subscription to Sky you will have to pay an additional £10 a month for HD content currently just 8 channels. So if you have the Sky World package its about £55 a month.
If you want my advce then.....WAIT.
NTL and Telewest have just merged and have been aquired by Virgin Group. They are already running HD over their cable network in some Telewest areas and early indications are very favourable according to variable sources. From what I have read somewhere, NTL/Telewest will relaunch its cable service early 2007 under the name 'Virgin Vision' offering a quad service of HDTV, Broadband, phone and mobile. Now i'm the first to admit that in the past NTL have been pretty shit but lets be honest, have you ever seen Richard Branson make a pigs ear of anything?
And its a good excuse to not give my hard earned cash to that robbing git that is Rupert Murdoch.

Just to clarify, the £10 a month gives you the HD channels appropriate to your current package. So for example if you don't have the movies (or sport) your £10 will NOT get you the HD movie (or sport) channels.
So the extra £10 is up to HD 8 channels. And not all content on these channels are true HD but are 'pscaled' to the HD format by Sky.
Personally I think if you are happy with what you have the 'step up' to HD is not worth the extra. I am certainly holding off until that £10 is dropped or substantially more HD content is available. The demos I have seen haven't blown me away. Then again that was in Comet/Dixons, I doubt the staff can tie their shoe laces let alone set up a HD demo properly.
If you already have a HD ready TV or intend to get a large screen (36" or more) then maybe it's worth it.

im not really arsed about it in the least if im honest, quite happy with it the way it is at the moment.
The only thing thats fucking anoying is sky sports have to point out every single fucking programme is on HD1 or HD2. Yes we get the fucking picture we can get it in HD now fuck off.

it is good, but unless you have spare cash dont bother.if you do then do it

I've seen HD and wow, great picture, but as far as i'm concerned it seems to much.
I mean, who the fuck needs to see blades of grass during football matches?
I can't ever recall watching TV and wishing i could see something more clearly, as least to that degree.
Seems a load of pointless shit to me. Lots of people are yet to even step up to Digital? With a good TV, i feel Digital is about as good as is required.
