the whole team is too narrow, but i think that's how wise wants em to play. when we were defending throws on our left shakes was in the left third of the field. i know it should make us harder to break down but i think that's erring too much on the side of caution. it was the same all throughout pre season and especially at hartlepool.
we're massively narrow and our wingers don't close down..they back off I wouldn't mind betting this is something that Wise has remembered from Wimbledon, maybe a tactic that worked so well for them lower down the leagues. They used to press the ball onto the wing, so the right winger would come right into the middle when it was on the left. The idea was to really press up the space around the players with the ball, knowing any cross field ball will take time in the air allowing the team to quickly filter over and cover it before it becomes dangerous. I seem to remember Sky doing some analysis on it back in Kinnears time. |

We have a really narrow pitch don't we... Maybe that's why we play so narrow? Hartepool got the better of us down the wings on Saturday, I think width could become a problem when we play on bigger pitches.
We'll see.

Didn't McMahon narrow the pitch when he was here to compress games...or was it Gorman that narrowed it and McMahon that widenend it again...something like that.
As much as I'd like to see free flowing, classic wing play, out wide isn't our strongest area so I doubt Wise & co would be up for a wider pitch

We have a really narrow pitch don't we... don't sit in the town end or stratton bank, but looking at the pitch from those angles it doesn't look that narrow in all honesty. i'd say it's about average |

brown dont wanna play so fuck him from what i have seen we have more of a problem on the right wing than we do on the left just stated i think brown is a better player than monkhouse. not making anyone a scapegoat. long as we keep winning i dont care who plays |

I believe we do have a narrow pitch, I think it may be one of the narrowest around...

Monkey is the best option there at the moment, and not too bad, but could improve. He's an average player whos giving average performances at the moment.
Agree Evans should start, we've looked better each time he's come on...
Still not convinced about Weston, I'd start with Evans and Pook and use Weston as the impact substitute... I believe Monky is the only option for left midfield as Browner is not welcome. Who else could play there? |
