As George Harrison said ....All things must pass.

Used to watch this religiously when I was a kid in the 70's and early 80's; every Thursday night. That was the only chance then to see the bands before 24 hour music channels.

Sad, but haven't watched it for ages now.

It will probably get big ratings tonight. It's been crap for years, all the pop, dance shit that no one wants to watch.

Which is, of course, why the Beeb have pulled the plug.

I haven't watched it apart from the occasional viewing for a long time either.   Like TotP 2 though, not sure whether that will get resurrected..

Not to forget Dexy's Jackie Wilson Said in front of a huge Jocky Wilson backdrop.

It's been metioned a lot recently but it's still funny.

With mtv and the other music channels it was blatently on it's way out. Think they could have saved it by changing the focus of the show, good live music with the (now meaningless) singles countdown at the end.

From the few I've seen in the last couple of months they've been going this way a bit, but it tended to be mcfly's latest cover live and some clips of old ace totp stuff.

I guess that they didn't react to the rise of the freeview music channels quick enough, instead of moving it to bbc2 early evening sunday slot theey should have considered changing it to a later night live music show.

But meh, it's gone. I'd like to see totp2 come back, I used to enjoy watching that.

Yeah they should do that. They used to show repeats of The Old Grey Whistle Test on BBC2 some nights I thing. I know what it is anyway.  But yeah I think that's what I meant.

You'd have liked the little cartoon features, which involved juxtaposing some 1930's animation with some prog rock garbage....if sufficiently stoned, then the world seemed a happier place.
